People can avail 101 services of 21 departments under Public Service Delivery Guarantee Act in MP

In Madhya Pradesh, now people could avail 101 services of 21 departments under the Public Service Delivery Guarantee Act. Twenty eight new services of five departments including Finance, Commerce, industries and Employment, Planning, Housing and Environment and Higher Education have also been brought under the Act’s purview while 21 new services of existing departments have also been added.

Earlier, 52 services of 16 departments were notified under the Act. The Public Service Delivery Guarantee Act ensures delivery of different services within prescribed time limit.

2 day session of WB Assembly starts to discuss situation arising out of Chit Fund scam

A Special two-day session of the State Assembly has began in Kolkata today to discuss the situation arising out of the Chit Fund scam. A new bill will be tabled in the House tomorrow for protection of investors following Saradha Group scam which has hit thousands of investors.

AIR correspondent reports that this is the second special session in the histrory of assembly after 1960 when the then Chief Minister B.C.Roy had called such one in view of eviction of Bengalis from Assam.

Meanwhile, a team of police officers of Assam are interrogating the Saradha group chief Sudipta Sen and two others accused in the scam in Kolkata besides the probe initiated by the West Bengal police. The opposition CPI(M) state committee has met in Kolkata this morning to discuses the chit fund episode and future strategy of the party to deal with the situation.
Indefinite curfew in Goalpara after death of 2 in police firing

In Assam, indefinite curfew has imposed in Goalpara town area after 2 persons died in police firing and another burnt to death by mob. State Law and Order IGP, S N Singh said that the incident occurred when body of a missing person has been recovered at Mornoi Road under Goalpara police station this morning. One person was charred to death with his motor cycle .Miscreants attacked official vehicles and also a pelted stone at security personnel.

Administartion has urged the angry mob to refrain but when failed, resorted to firing in retaliation. One person was died on the spot while another succumbs to his injuries later. At least 10 persons were sustained injuries and undergoing treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospitals. Singh said that the situation intense but under control. Curfew has been imposed as a precautionary measure from 3 pm. Additional security forces have been deployed.
Fire at underground magazine store of DRDO in Odisha brought under control

In Odisha, the fire that broke our in an underground magazine store of the Defence Research Development Development Organisation (DRDO) at Chandipur, about 18 km from Balasore this morning has been controlled. The fire which triggered a string of explosions took place in the magazine store of Proof and Experimental Establishment of DRDO.

According to Director of Proof and Experiment Establishment R A Raja, shells and ammunition of different capacities and sizes were stored in the magazine store for test. He said the total loss of arms and ammunitions are yet to be ascertained.

Mr Raja said there has been no casualty so far and fire tenders have controlled the blaze. He said the entire complex has been sealed. He, however, ruled out short circuit or security lapses as the reasons of the fire. He said a committee has been formed to ascertain the cause behind the fire in the establishment which is located near the premier missile trial centre Integrated Test Range (ITR).

According to reports, different shells and ammunition of various artillery systems, including the 155 mm Bofors field guns are brought to the establishment for test.
