K’taka polls: Congress manifesto released by A K Anthony

The Congress manifesto released by Defence Minister A K Anthony on the occasion of Assembly election in Karnataka promises the electorate rice at rupees one per kg, establishment of agriculture price commission and increasing allotment to Stree shakti sanghas by 25,000 rupees.

The manifesto also highlights welfare of SC, STs and minorities. Laying emphasis on development of Bangalore city, manifesto proposes to bring all service providers under one roof and create greater Bangalore on the lines of greater Noida.

During the release event, senior Congress leaders Oscar Fernandes, Ambika Soni, Madhusudan Mistry, Dharam Singh, Union Ministers Mallikarjuna Kharge, Veerappa Moily, K H Muniyappa, Rehman Khan, KPCC President Dr.G Parameshwar, leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah and several other leaders from the State were present.

Rahul Gandhi arrives at Mohankheda village in MP

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi arrived at Mohankheda, village in tribal dominated district of Madhya Pradesh on his two day tour today.

Rahul Gandhi, is also to interact with local Congress leaders and representatives of 15 Lok Sabha constituencies of Madhya Pradesh in Bhopal.
Omar asks Centre to send a clear message to China on intrusion issue

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has asked the Centre to send a clear message to China on intrusion issue. He said this kind of situations have always put the people, living in frontier areas, under difficulties besides hampering the process of development.

Addressing public meetings in remotest areas of Kathua district in Jammu division on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said Omar said the Central Government should take up this issue with both China and Pakistan strongly and to prevent such incident in future. He said that the State has witnessed militancy during a long period of over 20 years and suffered a lot both in loosing precious human lives and by way of huge damage to infrastructure and economy. He said that people of the State want to live in peace.

The Chief Minster said people of Jammu, Kashmir, Leh, Kargil and all other areas of the State have given sacrifices to protect and preserve the solidarity, harmony and brotherhood.

He said that people of the State want to be free from such intrusions and live in an atmosphere of calm and peace and carry on day-to-day life activities smoothly and without any interference.
Kunda DSP murder: CBI arrests 7 persons

CBI on Wednesday arrested seven persons in the murder case of Kunda DSP Zia-Ul-Haq in Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh. They include the security guard of influential MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya.

CBI sources said in Uttar Pradesh said the seven persons allegedly incited the mob to kill the DSP, when he arrived there after getting information about the murder of village head Nanhe Yadav.

They said one of the person, who allegedly led the mob to the kill the officer was Bhulle Pal, a security guard with the then State Minister Raja Bhaiya who has been named by the slain officer's wife in her FIR as the main suspect.

The sources said four persons - son, two brothers and a domestic help of Nanhe Yadav -- have already been arrested taking the total number of those taken in to custody in the case to 11.

Among those arrested, Chhote Lal Yadav, Ghanshyam Saroj and Ramashray were associates of village head Nanhe Yadav, who was murdered hours before the killing of the DSP and Chhote Lal Yadav and Munna Patel were his neighbours.

CBI has already recovered the weapon, allegedly used in the killing Haq.
