Preparations made to conduct maiden unmanned aerial surveillance at Kaziranga national park

In Assam, all necessary preparations have been made to conduct the maiden unmanned aerial surveillance at Kaziranga national park this evening.

The Field Director of the park N K Vaasu said that the 4 day long test flight will be conducted under the supervision of National Tiger Conservation Authority, Wildlife Institute of India and World Wildlife Fund, WWF.

For the first time in the country’s wildlife history, an unmanned aircraft will be put into service at Kaziranga to generate data. The Holly Fly model aircraft, powered by solar power is likely to help the park authority to enhance its security system and population management.

WWF is doing similar exercise at Royal Chitwan national park in Nepal. The aircraft will capture pictures from inaccessible and dense forest area and feed it to the control room.

Meanwhile, the Centre has given its nod to a CBI inquiry into the spurt in rhino poaching in rhino poaching in the state.Pochers have killed 38 rhinos and chopped of their horns during last 15 months.

MP: Central Zone bench of National Green Tribunal starts hearing of environment related cases

In Madhya Pradesh, the Central Zone bench of National Green Tribunal in Bhopal began hearing of environment related cases from today.

Union Environment Minister Jayanti Natrajan had inaugurated the bench yesterday. The bench will hear environment related cases of three states, Chattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

The National Green Tribunal has been established for effective and expeditious disposal of cases relating to environmental protection and conservation of forests and other natural resources.
All DMK members suspended for 2 days from attending TN Assembly

All the DMK members were suspended for two days from attending the Tamilnadu Assembly today. Confusion came during the special mention brought by DMK,CPM and PMK on the construction works undertaken by the Karnataka Government at Mugalur to divert the flow from River Pennai.

The PWD Minister Mr.K.V.Ramalingam while replying on the mention criticized the previous Government for not taking any action on issues related to the State when it was a part of the Centre. He also referred to a news item mentioned in a newspaper.

When the DMK member Mr.Duraimurugan was givens an opportunity to explain when he sought thePWD Minister to list out the issues related to the previous Government to which the floor leader Mr.O.Panneerselvam gave a detailed explanation.

Then again Mr.Duraimurugan and DMKLegislative Party leader Mr.M.K.Stalin sought an opportunity again to explain their Party’s stand on issues in which they were criticised .As the opportunity was denied, DMK members sat in protest before the Speakers Chair.

The speaker Mr.Dhanapal warned the members to go back to their seats. Even as they refused the Speaker ordered the Marshals to remove them from the House. Later members including DMK legislative Party leader Mr.M.K.Stalin were carried out of the House.

After which Speaker Mr.P.Dhanapal condemned their action and said that a proper action need to be taken in the form of a resolution. Floor leader Mr.O.Panneerselvam brought the resolution condemning the act and recommended for the temporary suspension of the members for two days.

The resolution was adopted by the Assembly. The Speaker later announced that the DMK members were suspended today and tomorrow.
Pune driver who killed 9, gets death sentence

The Sessions Court of Pune has awarded death sentence to the rash bus driver Santosh Mane on Monday.

Mane had rashly driven a State Transport bus on 25th January last year causing death of 9 people and injuring 37 others.

Additional Sessions Judge V. K. Shewale declared the sentence on Monday.

Some of the injured in the tragic event have been permanently incapacitated. Santosh Mane has also been ordered separate imprisonment and imposed fine for injuring 37 persons and causing damage to public property.

He has to undergo all the sentences together. Justice Shewale in his judgement said that the accused has committed an inexcusable crime by crushing innocent people for personal vengeance and he should be hanged till death for it.

The defense argument that Santosh Mane is a psychiatric patient was for misguiding the court and show cause notice may be served on the respective doctor, the judgement noted.
