J&K govt planning to set up weather stations

Jammu and Kashmir government is planning to set up weather stations to provide round the clock weather information

to the farming community in the state. The stations will come up with the help of The Weather Solution Company (BARON Service) and Achtech Company.

This was informed during a high level meeting in Jammu last evening. The meeting was informed that the proposed weather stations will facilitate the farmers in advance to protect their crops.
Doctor sentenced to life imprisonment for raping 30-yr-old woman patient in Maharashtra

In Maharashtra, a doctor was today sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court for raping a 30-year-old woman patient in the ICU of a hospital at Navi Mumbai.

Thane Additional Sessions Judge R D Sawant handed out the punishment to 26 year old Doctor who was also fined with Rs 1,000 along with another three-month imprisonment in the 2010 case.

The Prosecution told the court that in 2010 the victim was admitted to the ICU and the accused doctor,on night duty,allegedly gave an injection to the patient, making her drowsy and raped her repeatedly.

Accused gets 14 yrs’ imprisonment in MP rape case

In Madhya Pradesh, the District and Sessions Judge of Khandwa completed the hearing of a rape case just within four days and sentenced the accused to 14 years’ imprisonment under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

AIR correspondent reports that it is probably first time in the country that hearing of a rape case is completed in such a short time. The convict, 24-year-old Jitendra had committed unnatural sex after a rape attempt on a one and a half year old girl child on 23rd November last year in village Bhadlikheri in Khandwa district .

Rajasthan HC stays state’s decision for giving 4%additional reservation to Gurjar, four other communities

The Rajasthan High Court has stayed the state government's decision for giving 4 per cent additional reservation to Gurjar,Raika-Rebari,Gadia Luhar and Banjara communities.Today division bench of the Rajasthan High Court presided by Justice N.K. Jain stayed this order.Final hearing of this case will be on 19th February.Earlier on 28th November The Rajasthan Government announced to provide 4% more reservation in government jobs to Gurjar and 4 other communities under Special Backward Category. This decision was taken on the basis of the report of Rajasthan OBC Commission. This commission studied and examined quantifiable data with regard to Gurjar and other communities representation in the state services and made its opinion accordingly. This decision was challenged by a petitioner Manoj Solanki that it will provide 54 per cent reservation which is violation of Supreme Courts order.
ECI satisfied over poll preparedness of EC of Nagaland for ensuing elections

The Election Commission of India, ECI has expressed satisfaction over the poll preparedness of the Election Commission of Nagaland for the ensuing State Assembly Elections scheduled for February 23. Deputy Election Commissioner Sudhir Tripathi said this while briefing media-persons in Kohima this evening.

Mr. Sudhir is in Kohima for the last three-days to review the various aspects with regard to poll preparedness in the state. Mr. Tripathi said, the Commission is taking up the electioneering process seriously and reviewing the process down to the ground level.

Director General for Expenditure Monitoring P. K. Dash said that during a meeting with the political parties held today, they have been informed on the entire election expenditure to be strictly followed and maintained by the candidates.

Reiterating that the expenditure ceiling for any candidate is Rs. 8 lakh, he said that the candidates have to open separate bank account for showing the entire expenditure.
