• Special Judge of CBI, Guwahati convicts accused Pranab Paul
Choudhury, the then Head Cashier of United Bank of  India of
Arunachal Branch in Cachar District of  Assam for
misappropriation of funds  amounting to 59,84,000/-  rupees.
• Nyishi community of Arunachal Pradesh and the Bodos of
neighbouring Assam renewed their commitment to work for mutual
understanding among both the communities residing in inter-state
boundary areas.
• Arunachal Pradesh agri-horticulture commissioner Hage Kojeen
conferred Census 2011 silver medal for his contribution in
successfully conducting census operation in Puducherry.

NEWS IN ORDER
CBI
Ikramul Hussain, the Special Judge of CBI, Guwahati in Assam has
convicted accused Pranab Paul Choudhury, the then Head Cashier of
United Bank of India of Arunachal Branch in Cachar District of  Assam.
Choudhury has been penalized  to suffer Rigorous Imprisonment for 4
years and to pay a fine of 50,000 rupees under Section 13(2) read with
Section 13(1) (c) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and under
Section 409 IPC. In default of payment of fine.The accused shall undergo
Rigorous for another six months. This refers to CBI Shillong Branch case
which was registered on 19.09.2003 and three separate Charge sheets were
filed on 25.01.2006 against the accused Shri Pranab Paul Choudhury. The
case related to alleged misappropriation of funds for total amounting to
59,84,000/-  rupees from various customers accounts by the accused Shri
Pranab Paul Choudhury while posted and functioning as Head Cashier of
the Bank

The Nyishi community of Arunachal Pradesh and the Bodos of
neighbouring Assam have renewed their commitment to share each others
burden by strengthening trust and mutual understanding among both the
communities residing in inter-state boundary areas. The commitment was
made good during the annual conference of Sonitpur  district unit of All
Bodo Students Union (ABSU) at Bodo National Academy, Borphukuri near
Gohpur in Assam yesterday. Addressing the conference, Nyishi Elite
Society president Bengia Tolum called for continuation of the strong
bonding between both the communities, NES sources said in Itanagar. The
Nyishis and Bodos have been living in complete harmony since time
immemorial with mutual trust and confidence-this must go on, he said. All
Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) president Sikka Gapak, who was appointed
as the speaker of the conference, stressed on the importance of peace and
security as the pre-requisite of any developmental  activity to be brought
about especially in the boundary area. PTI
AWARD:
Arunachal Pradesh agri-horticulture commissioner Hage Kojeen has
been conferred Census 2011 silver medal for his contribution in
successfully conducting Census in 2011 as director  of census operation,
Puducherry, and for being first in the nation to complete the task. He will
receive the medal from President Pranab Mukherjee at Vigyan Bhavan in
New Delhi on 11
th
 of this month, official sources said yesterday.

NCC
NCC Additional Director General Maj Gen R K Sharma yesterday
called on Chief Minister Nabam Tuki at his official residence and discussed
various issues concerning the NCC movement and activities in the state.
 Sharma was accompanied by Col M Rath, Group Commander and Col S A
Patil, Commanding Officer, official sources said. During the discussion,
Tuki assured all cooperation for the growth of NCC family in the state's
educational institutions and said his government was committed to support
all kind of constructive activities involving youths. The chief minister said
NCC programmes should be implemented in every educational institution,
government or private, so that its influence reaches every section of youths
in the state. Highlighting the advantages of NCC programme, besides
inculcating moral values and discipline, Sharma said cadets excelling and
reaching the highest levels have the advantage of getting recruited into the
various wings of the Indian Armed Forces directly.

ZOO:
Special breeding enclosures for some species will be set up in the
Assam State Zoo, which will soon have a dedicated centre for rescue,
treatment and recovery of animals including bears and leopards. Shielded
from public view, the conservation and breeding enclosures are intended to
act as safe and scientific zones for breeding of species. The plan is to
construct separate enclosures for conservation breeding programmes for
species like black bucks next year and schemes to promote an interactive
face for visitors. The project is part of an ambitious master plan,
formulated last year, to turn the zoo-cum-botanical garden into one of the
finest in the country. Assam State Zoo Divisional Forest Officer Utpal Bora
said the conservation breeding enclosures have been built for the
endangered one-horned rhino and the golden langur. Bora saaid an area
has been earmarked in the zoo to set up a dedicated rescue centre for
animals in distress and the authorities are looking for gaining special
expertise in the rescue and treatment of bears and leopards.

BIKERS:
With a view to curb the menace from stunt bikers in Guwahati city,
transport and traffic police authorities will henceforth take strict action
against people involved in such activities including cancellation of driving
licences. "We will identify those who are involved in stunt biking and take
action against them. It could also involve cancellation of their licences,"
Kamrup (Metro) District Transport Officer Gautam Das said. He was
speaking on the sidelines of the concluding ceremony here of the week-long
Road Safety Week. Das further requested parents to  ensure that their
children refrain from taking up such dangerous activities."If anybody
witness such incidents, they should immediately inform our police control
room. We are committed to take action against those who indulge in such
activities," Guwahati Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Bibekananda Das.
The Superintendent of Police further said the ongoing drive against people
who indulge in driving after having alcohol would continue.
