Trial begins in Swiss woman gang-rape case Mar 31 In Madhya Pradesh, the trial in the Swiss woman gangrape case began in Datia yesterday with two prosecution witnesses recording their statements before a special court. All the six accused in the case were produced before Additional District Judge Jitendra Kumar Sharma. Two prosecution witnesses out of the total six recorded their statement in the case. Jitendra Prajapati and Bhagwat Gurjar identified the belongings of the Swiss couple seized by the police from the accused. They identified their laptop, laptop-charger and mobile phone among other things seized by the police. However, the Swiss couple did not arrive in the town to take part in the court proceedings. The court is likely to issue summons to them to appear before it. The next hearing in the case will be held on April one when another prosecution witness Tapan Suryawanshi will record his statement.

AP hikes power tariff for all consumers

Mar 31 In Andhra Pradesh, power tariff has gone up for domestic and commercial consumers by an average 21 per cent. The State Electricity Regulatory Commission has permitted the distribution companies to additionally collect about 6,173 crore rupees during the year 2013-14. The new rates will come into force from tomorrow. This hike will affect about 2 crore 50 lakh consumers in the state including both low tension domestic and high tension industrial consumers. The hike will be minimum 58 paisa per unit in domestic sector, while it is 1 rupee 13 paisa per unit in commercial sector. However, the 7-hour free power supply will continue for about 30 lakh agriculture consumers and tariff remained unchanged to about 97 lakh domestic consumers who use up to 50 units a month. 8,000 villages covered under Rajiv Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana in Assam Mar 31 In Assam around 8 thousand unelectrified villages and over 12 thousand partially electrified villages have been covered under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana. Assam government has also set up 22 thousand transformers during last 4 years under the Centre’s ambitious scheme of rural electrification. Official sources said that about 9 lakh BPL households have been provided with electric connections. Assam government has also initiated action to replace damaged transformers with new ones under Chief Minister’s Power Supply Assurance Scheme in the new financial year (2013-14). State Power department is also likely to set up solar power and storage project at selected remote village for agricultural purposes. One GNLA militant killed in Assam in encounter Army & Police Mar 31 In Assam, a militant of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) was killed and another injured in an encounter with a joint team of Army and police in Goalpara district today. Police said the two GNLA cadres, riding a bike, fired at the security when they were intercepted by the team on a road in Khashi Ghaghra. In the ensuing encounter, one GNLA militant was killed and his associate injured. A pistol and four bullets were recovered from the militants based in Meghalaya, police said. Ashok Choudhary succeeds Mahbooli Ali Kaiser as new Bihar PCC Mar 31 Ashok Choudhary has been appointed as the new President of Bihar Pradesh congress committee. भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने अपने संसदीय बोर्ड के नए सदस्यों के नामों की घोषणा की है। संसदीय बोर्ड निर्णय करने वाली यह पार्टी की सर्वोच्च संस्था है। श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी एकमात्र मुख्यमंत्री हैं जिन्हें इसमें शामिल किया गया है। पार्टी के नए महासचिव हैं-वरूण गांधी , अमित शाह और राजीव प्रताप रूडी। उपाध्यक्षों के पद पर उमा भारती, स्मृति ईरानी, मुख्तार अब्बास नकवी और प्रभात झा की नियुक्ति की गई है। 
खबरों के अनुसार नई टीम की घोषणा करने से पहले सूची को अंतिम रूप देने के सिलसिले में पार्टी अध्यक्ष राजनाथ सिंह ने वरिष्ठ नेता लालकृष्ण आडवाणी से भेंट की थी। संसदीय बोर्ड के सदस्य २०१४ के आम चुनावों में पार्टी का नेतृत्व करेंगे।

वित्त मंत्रालय ने सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों से कहा है कि वे एक सीमा तक ही ऋण राशि को बट्टे खाते में डालें। मंत्रालय ने २०११-१२ तक समाप्त हुए छह वर्षों के दौरान ऋणों की वसूली के ब्यौरे भी मांगे हैं। इसका उद्देश्य सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों की वित्तीय स्थिति को सुधारना है। बैंक जिन ऋणों की वसूली नहीं कर पाते, उन्हें बट्टे खाते में डाल देते हैं। मंत्रालय ने बैंकों से यह सुनिश्चित करने को भी कहा है कि किसी वर्ष के दौरान वसूल की गई राशि की तुलना में बट्टेखाते में डाले गए ऋण अधिक नहीं होने चाहिएं। वित्त मंत्रालय ने इस सिलसिले में सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के सभी बैंक प्रमुखों को हाल में एक पत्र लिखा है जिसमें कहा गया है कि यदि किसी वर्ष में बैंकों द्वारा वसूल किए गए ऋण के मुकाबले बट्टे खाते में डाली गई राशि अधिक हो तो मंत्रालय को इसके कारणों की जानकारी उपलब्ध कराई जाए। 
वित्तमंत्री पी चिदंबरम ने इस महीने के शुरू में सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंक प्रमुखों के साथ एक समीक्षा बैठक में वसूल न हो सकने वाले कर्जों के बढ़ते जाने पर चिंता व्यक्त की थी।

सरकार ने फरवरी में सेवा कर के रूप में दस हजार ४५३ करोड़ रूपए की वसूली की है। वसूली में इस वृद्धि से पता चलता है कि सेवा कर से बचने वालों को सरकार ने जो चेतावनी दी थी, उसके अच्छे परिणाम सामने आने लगे हैं। यह जानकारी देते हुए वित्त मंत्रालय के एक वरिष्ठ अधिकारी ने बताया कि सेवा कर के रूप में जनवरी में जितनी राशि वसूली की गई थी उसके मुकाबले फरवरी में वसूल की गई राशि ४४ प्रतिशत अधिक है। राजस्व विभाग ने जनवरी में सेवा कर के तहत केवल सात हजार २५५ करोड़ रूपए इकट्ठे किए थे।

असम में कामरूप जिले के सॉलकुचि शहर में आज दोपहर एक बजे से शाम चार बजे तक कर्फ्यू में ढील दी गई है। पुलिस महानिरीक्षक एल आर बिश्नोई ने बताया कि कल की हिंसा की घटनाओं में कथित रूप से शामिल होने के कारण सुरक्षाबलों ने पांच लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया है। स्थिति नियंत्रण में है लेकिन सुरक्षाबल सतर्कता बरत रहे हैं। राज्य के गृहसचिव जी डी त्रिपाठी ने कहा है कि कल की घटनाओं की मजिस्ट्रेट से जांच कराने के आदेश दिए गए हैं। सुरक्षाबलों के साथ कल व्यापारियों की झड़पों के बाद प्रशासन ने कर्फ्यू लगा दिया था। एक रिपोर्ट-
 
मुख्यमंत्री तरूण गोगोई ने सॉलकुचि में स्थिति सुधारने के लिए सभी जरूरी कदम उठाने के निर्देश दिये हैं। कामरूप जिले के उपायुक्त ने पूरे जिले में स्थानीय मेखला चादर के नाम पर बनारसी कपड़ों की बिक्री पर रोक लगा दी है। रंगाली बिहु में कुछ दिन बाकी रहते हुए बुनकरों को बिक्री में तेजी आने की उम्मीद थी लेकिन कुछ व्यापारियों द्वारा नकली कपड़े की बिक्री को लेकर गुस्साये लोग हिंसा पर उतर आये थे। सॉलकुचि के लगभग २५ हजार लोग इस उद्योग से जुड़े हुए हैं। मानस प्रतिम सरमा आकाशवाणी समाचार गुआहाटी।

तमिलनाडु में रामेश्वरम के मछुआरों ने कल से समुद्र में मछली पकड़ने के लिए जाने का फैसला किया है। पिछले एक पखवाड़े से भी अधिक समय से वे हड़ताल पर हैं और उनकी मांग है कि श्रीलंका की जेल में बंद तमिलनाडु के उन्नीस मछुआरों की रिहाई कराई जाए। मछुआरों के संगठन के अनुसार जिला प्रशासन ने उन्हें आश्वासन दिया है कि रिहाई सुनिश्चित करने के लिए आवश्यक कदम उठाए जाएंगे। संगठन का कहना है कि अगर तीन दिन में कोई कार्रवाई नहीं की गई तो वे अपने आंदोलन को और तेज कर देंगे।

वर्ष २०१२-१३ के दौरान विकास दर के मामले में मध्यप्रदेश देश के प्रमुख राज्यों में अग्रणी रहा है। वर्ष के लिए जारी केन्द्रीय सांख्यिकी संगठन के अस्थाई आंकड़ों के अनुसार मध्यप्रदेश के सकल राज्य घरेलू उत्पाद में २०१२-१३ के दौरान १४ दशमलव दो-आठ प्रतिशत और कृषि उत्पादन में दस दशमलव शून्य दो प्रतिशत की वृद्धि होने का अनुमान है। इन आंकड़ों का महत्त्वपूर्ण पहलू यह है कि सकल राज्य घरेलू उत्पाद के मामले में मध्यप्रदेश ने बिहार को पीछे छोड़ते हुए पहला स्थान हासिल किया है।

देश की सभी ढाई लाख पंचायतों में ब्रॉडबैंड की सुविधा उपलब्ध कराने की तैयारी की जा रही हैं। इसके लिए बीस हजार करोड़ रूपये. की लागत से राष्ट्रीय ऑप्टिकल फाइबर नेटवर्क कायम किया जाएगा। योजना के तहत, देश के सभी गांवों को मोबाइल वायरलैस ब्रॉडबैंड से जोड़ा जाएगा। सरकार ने शुरू में आंध्र प्रदेश, त्रिपुरा और राजस्थान को सुपर ऑप्टिक हाइवे से जोड़ने का फैसला किया है।

ओडिशा सरकार ने लोगों को पीने का साफ पानी अधिकतम ढाई सौ मीटर के दायरे में उपलब्ध कराने का फैसला किया है। हालांकि, ये योजना केवल उन इलाकों में लागू की जाएगी जहां कम से कम ढाई सौ लोग रहते हों। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि राज्य सरकार ने प्रत्येक ग्राम पंचायत के मुख्य गांवों तक पाइप से पानी पहुंचाने की सभी परियोजनाओं को दो वर्ष के भीतर पूरा करने का भी निर्णय लिया है। 
 
केन्द्र और राज्य सरकार ग्रामीण इलाकों में शुद्ध पेयजल आवंटन के लिए ग्रामीण पेयजल कार्यक्रम चला रहे हैं। जिसके तहत हर दिन प्रति व्यक्ति ५५ लीटर शुद्ध पेयजल सुनिश्चित करने का लक्ष्य रखा गया है। इसे हासिल करने के लिए ओडीशा सरकार ने ग्रामीण पेयजल योजना के तहत ओवरहैड पानी टंकी बनाने का निश्चय किया है। राज्य की लगभग आठ हजार ऐसी पेयजल योजनाओं में से लगभग तीन हजार योजनाओं में पानी टंकी का निर्माण किया जा चुका है। कटक से आकाशवाणी के लिए गिरीश चन्द्र दास।

कश्मीर घाटी में काजीगुंड और जम्मू डिवीजन में बनिहाल के बीच रेल संपर्क इस वर्ष मई तक कायम हो जाएगा। हमारे श्रीनगर संवाददाता ने बताया है कि यह रेल संपर्क सामरिक और आर्थिक दृष्टि से बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है।

अमरीका में बड़े कारोबारियों और श्रमिकों के बीच एक समझौते से एक करोड़ दस लाख अवैध प्रवासियों के लिए नागरिकता हासिल करने का रास्ता साफ हो गया है। समझौते के तहत पहली अप्रैल २०१५ से नया डब्ल्यू वीजा कार्यक्रम शुरू किया जायेगा। ऐसे वीजा धारक एक वर्ष बाद स्थाई नागरिकता के लिए पात्र हो जायेंगे और वे अपना रोजगार भी बदल सकेंगे।इस कार्यक्रम के तहत पहले वर्ष में बीस हजार वीजा जारी किए जायेंगे जिसे बाद में बढ़ाकर दो लाख वीजा प्रतिवर्ष किया जा सकता है।

अफगानिस्तान में राष्ट्रपति हामिद करजई के आदेश के बाद राजधानी काबुल के निकट वरदक प्रान्त में स्थित एक ठिकाने से अमरीकी विशेष कार्रवाई बल को हटा लिया गया है। अमरीकी सेना की कमान के अंतर्गत स्थानीय अफगान पुलिस द्वारा संदिग्ध उग्रवादियों के अपहरण, उनकी यातना और उन्हें मौत के घाट उतारे जाने की शिकायतों के बाद यह आदेश दिया गया है। लेकिन स्थानीय पुलिस ने इन आरोपों का खंडन किया गया है। अफगान सुरक्षा बल ने वरदक प्रान्त का नियंत्रण संभाल लिया है।

The BJP has announced its core team of new Parliamentary Board members. Narendra Modi is the only Chief Minister to be included in the Board, which is the highest decision making body of the party. Varun Gandhi, Amit Shah and Rajiv Pratap Rudy have been appointed as General Secretaries of the party. Uma Bharti, Smriti Irani, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Prabhat Jha have been appointed as Vice Presidents.

According to reports, party President Rajnath Singh met senior leader L K Advani to give a final shape to the list ahead of the announcement. Parliamentary Board members will lead the party in the 2014 general elections.

In Assam, curfew will be relaxed at Sualkuchi town in Kamrup district from 1 to 4 pm today. IGP, L R Bishnoi said that security forces have arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in yesterday’s violent activities. The situation is under control but vigil is being maintained by the security forces. State Home Secretary G D Tripathi said that a magisterial inquiry has been ordered. The administration clamped curfew yesterday after local traders protesting against the selling of imported fabrics in the name of local Mekhela-Chador, clashed with security forces.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has instructed the administration to take all steps to return normalcy at Sualkuchi. The Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup has imposed ban on the selling of imported fabrics in the entire district in the name of local silk fabrics. With the Rongali Bihu round the corner, local traders were expected a boom in sales. But the selling of Benarasi clothes in the name of Sualkuchi Mekehla-Chador created furore among them. Madhya Pradesh leads major states of the country in respect of growth rate in the year 2012-13. As per the provisional data released by the Central Statistical Organization, CSO, for 2012-13 for the states, Madhya Pradesh’s Gross State Domestic Product, GSDP, for 2012-13 is likely to be 14.28 percent and agriculture growth rate about 10.02 percent.

An important feature of these statistics is that this year Madhya Pradesh has occupied the top position in respect of GSDP by dislodging Bihar. Last year Bihar was on the top with 13.26 percent GSDP followed by Madhya Pradesh with 11.81 percent.

The Rameswaram fishermen who are on continuous strike for more than a fortnight urging the release of 19 Tamil fishermen lodged in Lankan jail, have decided to venture out into the sea from tomorrow. More from our correspondent:

The fishermen association said that the district administration had given them assurance that necessary steps would be taken to ensure release of Tamil fishermen. The association said that they will intensify the stir if no action is taken within three days. The fishermen had to venture out into the sea to sustain their livelihood as the monsoon fishing ban for 45 days will start from 15th of April.

The government's stern warning to service tax evaders appears to have yielded results with the collection rising to 10,453 crore rupees in February. Disclosing this, a senior Finance Ministry official said, this is 44 per cent more than collections in the previous month. The Finance Ministry has asked public sector banks to limit the amount of loan write-offs and sought details of recoveries made by them in the six years ending 2011-12 with an aim to improve the finances of PSU lenders. It has also asked the banks to ensure that the amount written off by banks as bad loans does not exceed the cash recovery made during the year. In a recent communication to the heads of all public sector banks, the Finance Ministry said, in case there is more write off than the recovery made by the bank in a given year, the reasons for the same may also be provided to the Ministry.

Concerned over the rising bad loans, Finance Minister P Chidambaram in a review meeting with PSU bank chiefs earlier this month, had asked them to take firm steps against affluent promoters to recover loans from sick companies owned by them.

The Odisha government has decided to provide safe drinking water to the people, residing within a radius of a maximum 250 metres. Our Correspondent reports that the state government will complete all pipe water supply projects linking the main villages of each of its gram panchayats within two years.

In order to achieve this target, the state government has decided to construct overhead tanks in each of the rural pipe water supply projects. Till date, such overhead tanks in about three thousand out of about 8 thousand water supply projects have already been constructed. Under the agreement, a new W visa program would go into effect from April 1, 2015. After a year, W visa holders would be able to seek permanent status and they would be able to change jobs.
In the first year of the program, 20,000 visas would be issued, eventually expanding to a maximum of 200,000 visas that could be granted each year.

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla said this while talking to reporters yesterday. This follows a war of words that has been going on between the Union Minister Beni Prasad Verma and the Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Samajwadi Party is our ally. We have their support and we value their support. If there are any differences of opinion, we will resolve them through discussion.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said that the central government is stable and it will continue to follow the reforms path. He said any contradictions between the alliance partners must be sorted out through talks.

Central Government is stable. It will complete its term and continue to work for economic reforms. In the alliance government, sometimes, associate parties have their own political context. But coalition dharma demands that, if there are differences of opinions, efforts should be made to resolve these issues through dialogue.

The former Law Minister of Odisha Raghunath Mohanty and his wife, who are facing dowry charges, have been sent to judicial custody till the 2nd of April. Hearing the bail application of the Mohanty duo, the Court in Balasore passed the order to this effect. The court has asked the Human Rights Protection Cell, HRPC, probing into the case, to submit the up-to-date case diary for further hearing on the bail application on the 2nd of April. The Mohanty couple, before being arrested last night near Kolkota by a team of HRPC, were said to be absconding since their daughter-in-law brought dowry allegation against them on the 14th of this month. The Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that the law will take its course.

A special CBI court in Ghaziabad has sentenced six people to three to six years imprisonment in the 2004-2006 Post office scam. Special judge MS Wadhwa found six persons guilty and awarded six years imprisonment to 4 of them. One of themhas been sentenced to four years and one to three years imprisonment. The judge also imposed fine on them. According to the Prosecution, they were accused of syphoning off 16.71 lakh rupees. CBI had probed into the matter.

In Madhya Pradesh, the trial in the Swiss woman gangrape case began in Datia yesterday with two prosecution witnesses recording their statements before a special court. All the six accused in the case were produced before Additional District Judge . Two prosecution witnesses out of the total six recorded their statement in the case.

However, the Swiss couple did not arrive in the town to take part in the court proceedings. The court is likely to issue summons to them to appear before it. The next hearing in the case will be held on April 1st.

In Assam, indefinite curfew continues at Sualkuchi town area in Kamrup district after traders clashed with security forces yesterday. IGP LR Bishnoi said that additional security forces have been deployed and the situation is under control. Police have registered a case and will inquire into the matter. Talking to AIR, Assam government’s spokesman Bhupen Bora said that government has instructed the district administration to ban selling of Benarasi fabrics at Sualkuchi for at least 15 days. Bora said that though some traders were selling imported fabrics in the name of Sualkuchi clothes, nobody has lodged any complaint. Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, TNPCB, has ordered closure of Sterlite Industries' copper smelter unit in Tuticorin in the wake of alleged gas leak last week. Company officials said, they have started closing down the operations of the unit. The TNPCB order came a week after an unspecified gas leaked in the area on March 23rd, causing mild suffocation, sore throat and eye irritation to several people in the locality. In a statement, the company said, it will convince authorities to install safety measures.

India has asked Pakistan to provide a full report about the circumstances surrounding the death of Indian prisoner Chamel Singh in a Pakistani jail. Singh died in mysterious conditions in a Pakistani jail. He was serving a five-year prison term at Kot Lakhpat Jail. Official sources said, the Indian High Commission in Islamabad has also asked Pak authorities for a copy of Chamel Singh's post-mortem report. Tehseen Khan, a Pakistani lawyer, claimed that Chamel Singh died after being beaten by the prison staff. More from our correspondent

The very fact that it took Pakistani authorities two months to conduct the autopsy and hand over the body to Indian authorities speaks volumes about the way Chamel Singh's death in custody was handled by Pakistan. While the intimation of death was given on January 17, the body, with injury marks, was handed over on March 13 to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. This has happened despite Indian High Commission making repeated requests to Pakistani authorities. Pakistani authorities have directed officials at airports across the country to bar former President Pervez Musharraf from going abroad. The Federal Investigation Agency formally issued written orders to immigration officials in this regard. The move came a day after the Sindh High Court issued orders that Musharraf cannot leave Pakistan without the permission of courts that are hearing cases against him. The High Court issued the directive while extending by 21 days the pre-arrest bail granted to him in connection with several cases. Musharraf plans to lead his All Pakistan Muslim League party in the upcoming general elections.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has arrived in Qatar to discuss Taliban militants opening an office in the Gulf state for peace negotiations that could end more than a decade of war. सरकार ने कहा है कि वह सहयोगी के तौर पर समाजवादी पार्टी को बहुमूल्य मानती है और अगर कोई आपसी मतभेद हैं तो उन्हें बातचीत से दूर किया जाएगा। संसदीय कार्य राज्यमंत्री राजीव शुक्ल ने कल संवादाताओं से यह बात कही। 

समाजवादी पार्टी हमारे सहयोगी हैं। उनका समर्थन हमें हासिल है। उस समर्थन की हम वैल्यू करते है, रिस्पेक्ट करते है उस समर्थन की। और अगर कहीं कोई डिफरेंस ऑफ ओपिनियन उनके साथ है तो उनको हम बातचीत के जरिये हल करेंगे।

सूचना और प्रसारण मंत्री मनीष तिवारी ने कहा है कि केंद्र सरकार स्थिर है और वह सुधारों को जारी रखेगी। 

केन्द्र सरकार पूरी तरह से स्थिर है, पूरी तरह से स्थायी है। अपना कार्यकाल पूरा करेगी और आर्थिक सुधारों के रास्ते पर चलती रहेगी। जब गठबंधन की सरकारें चलाते हैं तो कभी-कभी जो घटक दल होते है उनका एक राजनीतिक परिपेक्ष्य होता है। पर, गठबंधन का धर्म ये है कि जहाँ पर लगे कि कोई अंतर विरोध है तो बात कर कर, बैठकर उसे सुलझाने की कोशिश करनी चाहिए।

गाजियाबाद में सीबीआई की विशेष अदालत ने २००४ से २००६ के दौरान डाकघर घोटाले के ६ दोषियों को तीन से छह वर्ष की कैद की सजा सुनाई है। विशेष न्यायाधीश एमएस वाधवा ने छह लोगों को १६ लाख ७१ हजार रुपये हड़पने का दोषी पाया।ं सहारनपुर मुख्य डाकघर के पोस्टमास्टर कन्हैया लाल और तीन एजेंटों प्रशांत त्यागी, सुशांत त्यागी और राजकुमार त्यागी को छह वर्ष जबकि सहायक पोस्ट मास्टर लोकेश कुमार को चार वर्ष और अमर सिंह को तीन वर्ष की सजा सुनाई। न्यायाधीश ने इन सभी पर जुर्माना भी लगाया है। इस घटना की छानबीन सीबीआई ने की थी।

असम में कामरूप के सूआलकूची इलाके में कल व्यापारियों और सुरक्षाबलों के बीच झड़प के बाद अनिश्चितकालीन कर्फ्यू जारी है। पुलिस महानिरीक्षक एल. आर. बिश्नोई ने बताया कि वहां अतिरिक्त सुरक्षा बल तैनात किए गए हैं और स्थिति नियंत्रण में है। पुलिस ने मामला दर्ज कर जांच शुरू कर दी है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि झड़प में एक अतिरिक्त पुलिस अधीक्षक और तीन नागरिक घायल हो गए।

आंध्रप्रदेश में हाल में किरण रेड्डी सरकार के खिलाफ अविश्वास प्रस्ताव पर मतदान के दौरान कथित रूप से पार्टी व्हिप का उल्लंघन करने के मामले में विधान सभाध्यक्ष एन.मनोहर ने १८ विधायकों को नोटिस जारी किये हैं। इनमें नौ विधायक कांग्रेस के और इतने ही तेलुगुदेशम पार्टी के हैं। अध्यक्ष ने उनसे १४ दिन के भीतर जवाब देने को कहा है।

केन्द्रीय वित्त मंत्री पी. चिदंबरम ने कहा है कि खातों में सीधे नकद अंतरण योजना का फायदा लाभार्थियों तक बिना किसी रूकावट के पहुंचेगा। श्री चिदंबरम तमिलनाडु में शिवगंगा में एक सामुदायिक भवन के उद्घाटन मौके पर बोल रहे थे। उन्होंने कहा कि इसका लाभ लेने के लिए सभी लोगों को बैंको या डाकघरों में अपने खाते खुलवा लेने चाहिए।

भारत ने पाकिस्तान से भारतीय कैदी चमेल सिंह की मौत से संबंधित परिस्थितियों की पूरी रिपोर्ट देने को कहा है। चमेल सिंह की पाकिस्तान की जेल में रहस्यमयी हालात में मौत हो गई थी। वह कोट लखपत जेल में पांच साल की कैद की सजा भुगत रहा था। सरकारी सूत्रों ने बताया कि इस्लामाबाद में भारतीय उच्चायोग ने भी पाकिस्तान के अधिकारियों से चमेल सिंह की पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट की एक प्रति देने को कहा है। 

पाकिस्तान के एक वकील तहसीन खान ने दावा किया है कि चमेल सिंह की मौत जेल कर्मचारियों द्वारा उसे पीटने से हुई। 

पाकिस्तान की तरफ से चमेल सिंह का शव और पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट भारत को देने में दो महीने का समय लगने से ये बात स्पष्ट होती है कि पाकिस्तान कितनी गंभीरता से इस मामले से निपटा। चमेल सिंह के देहांत की खबर १७ जनवरी को दी गई और उनका शव १३ मार्च को भारत को सौंपा गया। मीडिया की खबरों के अनुसार शव पर जख्मों के निशान भी थे। पाकिस्तान की तरफ से बार-बार इस तरह की उकसाने वाली हरकतों से निश्चित रूप से दो देशों के बीच संबंध बेहतर बनाने के प्रयास प्रभावित होंगे जो किसी के हित में नहीं। अशोक हांडू, आकाशवाणी समाचार, दिल्ली

पाकिस्तानी अधिकारियों ने देशभर के हवाई अड्डों को निर्देश दिया है कि पूर्व राष्ट्रपति परवेज+ मुशर्रफ को देश से बाहर न जाने दिया जाए। इस संबंध में आव्रजन अधिकारियों को औपचारिक रूप से आदेश जारी किया गया है। सिंध हाईकोर्ट ने हाल ही में आदेश जारी कर कहा है कि मुशर्रफ के खिलाफ मामलों की सुनवाई कर रही अदालतों की अनुमति के बिना वे पाकिस्तान छोड़ कर नहीं जा सकते। हाईकोर्ट ने कई मामलों में उनको दी गई अग्रिम जमानत २१ दिन के लिए और बढा दी है।

अफगान राष्ट्रपति हामिद करजई कल कतर पहुंचे, जहां वे तालिबान के साथ शांति वार्ता के लिए एक कार्यालय खोलेंगे, यह एक दशक से ज्यादा चले युद्ध को समाप्त करने का प्रयास माना जा रहा है। कतर की समाचार एजेंसी क्यू एन ए ने खबर दी है कि श्री करजई का विदेश राज्यमंत्री अब्दुल्ला अल अतियाह ने स्वागत किया। २०१४ के अंत तक अफगानिस्तान से नैटो सैनिकों की वापसी होनी है।

बांग्लादेश में ढाका पुलिस ने १६ लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया है। इनमें जमात-ए-इस्लामी के नेता और चार पाकिस्तानी नागरिक भी शामिल हैं। इन पर आतंकवादियों को एकत्र करने के अलावा नकली भारतीय मुद्रा की तस्करी के आरोप हैं। ढाका महानगर पुलिस के प्रवक्ता और खुफिया विभाग के संयुक्त आयुक्त ने ढाका में यह जानकारी दी। गिरफ्तार लोगों में जमात का सरगना डॉक्टर फरीदउद्दीन अहमद है।

ओड़ीशा के पूर्व विधि मंत्री रघुनाथ मोहंती और उनकी पत्नी को दहेज प्रताड़ना के मामले में दो अप्रैल तक न्यायिक हिरासत में भेज दिया गया है। बालेश्वर की स्थानीय अदालत ने मोहंती दम्पती की जमानत याचिका पर सुनवाई के बाद यह आदेश जारी किया। अदालत ने दहेज प्रताड़ना मामले की जांच कर रहे मानवाधिकार संरक्षण प्रकोष्ठ से कहा है कि वह जांच में प्रगति की रिपोर्ट २ अप्रैल को उसके समक्ष पेश करे। मुख्यमंत्री नवीन पटनायक ने कहा है कि इस मामले में कानून अपना काम करेगा।

इस पर गहराई से विचार किया गया है। आपने सुना होगा कि उन्हें और उनकी पत्नी को गिरफ्तार किया जा चुका है और कानून अपना काम करेगा।

श्री मोहंती की पुत्रवधु ने उनके खिलाफ इस महीने की चौदह तारीख को दहेज प्रताड़ना का मामला दर्ज करवाया था।

मध्य प्रदेश में दतिया में स्विटज+रलैंड की महिला के साथ हुए सामूहिक दुष्कर्म मामले की कल सुनवाई शुरू हुई जिसमें दो गवाहों ने विशेष अदालत में अपने बयान दर्ज कराए। मामले के सभी छह आरोपियों को अतिरिक्त जिला न्यायाधीश जीतेन्द्र कुमार शर्मा के समक्ष पेश किया गया। स्विस दम्पति हालांकि अदालत की कार्यवाही में हिस्सा लेने के लिए दतिया नहीं पहुंचा। मामले की अगली सुनवाई कल होगी।

आगामी इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग में श्रीलंकाई खिलाड़ियों को हिस्सा लेने से रोकने के लिए अधिकारियों पर लगातार बढ़ते दबाव पर प्रतिक्रिया करते हुए श्रीलंका क्रिकेट-एसएलसी ने कहा है कि खिलाड़ियों को रोकने का अधिकार उसके पास नहीं है। लेकिन बाद में श्रीलंका सरकार ने स्पष्ट कर दिया है कि खिलाड़ी तमिलनाडु में मैंचों में हिस्सा नहीं लेंगे।
