agaland re-poll:brisk polling on in all nine polling stations

In Nagaland, brisk polling is reported from almost all the nine polling stations across eight assembly constituencies in seven districts.The Election Commission had ordered re-poll in these polling stations in view of the violence and malpractices during last Saturday’s Assembly elections.Our correspondent reports that according to the sources from State Chief Electoral Office, by 12 noon today, over 50 per cent votes have already been cast in most of the polling stations. As all the nine polling stations have already been declared either sensitive or hyper sensitive and foolproof security has been provided for smooth conduct of the re-poll. So far there is no report of any untoward incident from any of the poll locations.

Dilsukhnagar-site of H'bad blasts-limping back to normalcy

The blast-stricken Dilsukhnagar area in Hyderabad is limping back to normalcy. The city police have almost removed the debris at the blast sites as the necessary samples and evidence have been collected from both places. The mangled pieces of motor vehicles and other material in the bomb blast area have been removed after the National Investigation Agency’s approval.
Meanwhile, the cheques of six lakh rupees, towards ex-gratia announced by the state government have been distributed to family members of the deceased. The Ranga Reddy district authorities are processing the same in case of six other families.
TN CM: Bill to be introduced to control & regulate sale of acid

The Tamilnadu Chief Minister Ms.Jayalalithaa in a statement today said that a bill would be introduced in the State to control and regulate the sale of acid in the forth coming Budget session of the State Assembly. Recently two girls lost their lives due to acid attack in the State.She announced an ex gratia of Rs two lakh to the acid victim who died recently.
Lakhs of women devotees in Kerala capital for annual festival at Attukal Bhagavathy temple

Lakhs of women devotees converged in the Kerala capital Thiruvananthapuram today for the annual festival at Attukal Bhagavathy temple,known as the Sabarimala of Women. The festival at Attukal has been entered into the Guinness book of World records as the largest congregation of women in the world.

The entire area of about five kilometre radius around the temple,emerged as a consecrated ground for observing Pongala rituals for lakhs of women devotees from different parts of Kerala and outside.

The ceremony is exclusively confined to women-folk and the enormous crowd,which gathers on this auspicious day is reminiscent of the Kumbh Mela of North India.Lakhs of women devotees prepared Pongala,an offering prepared in small pots with rice,jaggery,ghee,coconut as well as other ingredients to please Goddess Kannaki.
