6 awarded life term in Datia Swiss woman rape case

In Madhya Pradesh, a special court of Datia yesterday sentenced six accused of Swiss woman rape case to life imprisonment. The court has also imposed a fine of ten thousand each on Bhoota, Brijesh, Rampro, Vishu, Baba and Nitin. A Swiss woman was gang-raped by six men in Datia district on 15th March this year. The woman was cycling along with her husband from Orchha to Agra. The couple was camping near Jhadia village when the accused looted them and raped the woman.
Haryana to increase kitchen capacity under mid-day meal scheme

In Haryana, the capacity of kitchens and stores would be increased under the Mid-Day Meal scheme. Directions have been issued to purchase foods storage containers so that quality food could be given to the children in the schools. This was informed by Haryana Education and Women and Child Development Minister, Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal at Jhajjar on Sunday. She said that Mid-Day Meal Scheme is being implemented efficiently in the schools of Haryana and children are being provided with balanced diet in lunch in all government and government aided schools. Mrs. Bhukkal said that she herself is monitoring the scheme by visiting the schools.
Curfew lifted from Srinagar, traffic resumes on Jammu-Srinagar Highway

In jammu and kashmir, with improvement in situation authorities today lifted curfew from Srinagar city.

However, police and paramilitary forces will remain deployed in sensitive areas.

The district magistrates of other districts have been authorised to decide about withdrawing curfew in other towns as per the requirements of the situation.

AIR Srinagar Correspondent reports that the halted Amarnath yatra has resumed as the tension has eased on Srinagar-Jammu national highway which errupted following the killing of four civilian persons in the alleged BSF firing on Thursday.
Road accident kills seven people in West Bengal

In West Bengal, seven people including six policemen were killed and one injured in a road accident near Mainaguri in Jalpaiguri district this morning.

According to official sources, a truck which was coming from opposite side hit the vehicle carrying police personnel. All the victims died on the spot.

The injured policeman has been admitted in a local hospital. The vehicle carrying policemen was going to Malda from Coochbihar district for poll duties.

The driver of the truck is absconding. The fourth phase of panchayat election in the state will be held at Nadia, Birbhum, Murshidabad and Malda district tomorrow.
