Delhi Police arrests S Sreesanth, 2 other cricketers on charges of spot-fixing

Delhi Police has arrested Indian cricketer S Sreesanth and two of his Rajasthan Royals teammates on charges of spot-fixing. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar said that a special cell of the Delhi police arrested Sreesanth and his teammates Ajit Chadila and Ankeet Chavan in Mumbai after the IPL matches held between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indian. He said that Police has also arrested 11 bookies from various parts of the country over the charges of spot fixing during the ongoing IPL tournament.

Delhi Police Commissioner Mr Kumar while giving details of instances of spot fixing, said that the instances of the spot fixing took place during the matches played between Rajasthan Royals and Pune Warriors on 5th of May, against Kings XI Punjab on 9th of this month and the mathces played against Mumbai Inidans yesterday. Mr Kumar said that the players and bookies who have been brought to Delhi,have been charged under various section. He said that they are also likely to be booked under the stringent MCOCA, Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act.
No arrests for objectionable comments on social networking sites without nod of senior cops: SC

Supreme Court today said that no person should be arrested for posting objectionable comments on social networking sites without the permission of senior police officials. The court also directed all states and union territories to comply with the Centre's advisory on arresting people for their comments on websites.
The court made these observations while hearing a plea that challenged the arrest of a human rights activist from Andhra Pradesh .He was apprehended last week for posting allegedly defamatory comments against a Congress leader on Facebook. Jaya Vindyala, a lawyer and president of the Andhra Pradesh unit of People's Union for Civil Liberties , was arrested in Hyderabad on Sunday afternoon for her comments against A Krishnamohan, a Congress MLA from Chirala in Prakasam district.
At least 34 people killed in series of bomb attacks in Iraqi capital, Baghdad

In Iraq, at least 34 people have been killed in a series of bomb attacks across the country last evening, several of which targeted mainly Shia districts of Baghdad. Officials said eleven blasts in the space of an hour in the capital left 23 people dead and more than 100 others injured. Bomb attacks also killed at least 10 people in the northern city of Kirkuk. Iraq has seen a sharp increase in sectarian violence in recent weeks amid growing tension between minority Sunni Arabs and the Shia-led government. Although the violence is less deadly than that seen during the heights of the insurgency in 2006 and 2007, it is the most widespread since the US military withdrawal in 2011. Last month, over seven hundred people were killed, the deadliest month since American troops withdrew.
BJP reiterates demand for providing more autonomy to CBI

BJP has reiterated its demand for providing more autonomy to the investigating agency CBI. Briefing reporters in New Delhi today, party spokesperson Shahnawaj Hussain said that constitutional body should be kept free from any kind of government control. He alleged that Congress led UPA government has failed to control price rise and corruption in the country.
