Registration for Amarnathji Yatra starts

In Jammu and Kashmir the registration of pilgrims for Shri Amarnathji Yatra began today for both the Yatra routes - Baltal and Chandanwari routes - through 422 designated Bank Branches of Jammu & Kashmir Bank, State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, YES Bank and HDFC Bank spread all over the country. This year’s 55 day Yatra shall commence simultaneously on both the routes from 28th June and culminate on Raksha Bandhan, the 21st August 2013.

The step-by-step procedure which the Yatris need to follow to register for the Yatra has been put on Shri Amarnath Shrine Board’s website, www.shriamarnathjishrine.com. The website also contains the application form and state-wise list of Bank Branches with complete addresses which the Yatris can approach for registering themselves for this year’s pilgrimage. The applicant-Yatri shall have to furnish Compulsory Health Certificate while seeking registration for this year’s Shri Amarnathji Yatra. The format of the Compulsory Health Certificate and state-wise list of doctors/institutes authorised to issue it have also been put on the website of the Shrine Board. Health Certificates issued only after 1st March, 2013 would be valid. Moreover persons under the age of 13 years or above the age of 75 years and ladies more than six weeks’ pregnant would not be registered for this year’s Yatra. For ensuring effective security arrangements along the yatra tracks, only those Yatris who are in possession of a Yatra Permit which is valid for a specified date and route will be allowed to proceed beyond the Base Camps, and cross the Entry Gates at Domel and Chandanwari.

Jairam:Govt planning to universalise pension system for elderly, disabled & widows

Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh has said the government is planning to universalise the pension system for elderly, disabled and widows. Replying to supplementaries during question hour in the Rajya Sabha today, he said that his ministry will is working out on redefining the existing pension system, particularly linking it to inflation. Mr Ramesh said it is proposed to redefine disability and destitute women. He hoped that a decision in this regard will be taken within six weeks from now. The Minister assured the House that the Pension scheme will be effectively operational across the country within one and a half years.
Replying to main question the Minister said his ministry is providing a pension of 300 rupees per month per beneficiary in the age group of 18 to 79 years as an additional central assistance to handicapped persons with severe or multiple disabilities belonging to Below Poverty Line family, under the Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme which is a component of the National Social Assistance Programme. He said this includes senior citizens in the age group of 60 to 79 years as well, with 100 per cent disability. He said from the age of 80 years onwards, these beneficiaries are considered under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension and provided with a pension of 500 rupees per month per beneficiary.
India, Egypt to ink several pacts during Prez Morsy's India visit

India and Egypt will sign several agreements during Egyptian President Dr. Mohamed Morsy's three day State visit to India. Dr. Morsy is arriving in New Delhi tonight after a brief stop over at Islamabad.

The agreements to be signed include areas of communications and Information Technology, trade and commerce and investment. Our correspondent reports, the visiting dignitary will be offered a ceremonial reception by President Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhavan tommorow morning.

Besides meetings with President Mukherjee, Dr. Morsy will also hold discussions with Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Mrs. Sushma Swaraj and External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid.

Breifing newsmen on the Egyptian President's External Affairs spokesperson Mr. Syed Akbarrudin said, Dr. Mohamed Morsy is being accompanied by an important business delegation including seven senior ministers.

AIR correspondent reports, India-Egypt bilateral trade has recently seen a 30 percent increase to reach 4.5 billion US Dollars. Several Indian companies, have a presence in Egypt and Indian investment in Egypt stands around 2.5 billion US Dollars.

India is also the seventh largest trading partner of Egypt. Dr. Morsi will also address a business event organised by the apex chambers of commerce of India.
60th National Film Awards for 2012 announced

The 60th National Film Awards for the year 2012 has been announced in New Delhi on Monday. Hindi feature film Paan Singh Tomar has been conferred to the best film for the year.

The award for the Best Actor has been shared by Irrfaan Khan playing the title role in Paan Singh Tomar and Vikram Gokhale for the Marathi film Anumati.

Usha Jadhav has been selected for the Best Actress for her performance in Marathi film Dhag. While, the award for the Best Director has been given to Shivaji Lotan Patil for the Marathi film Dhag and the award for the best Supporting Actor has been conferred on Anu Kapur for the film Vicky Donor.

The award for the best supporting Actress has been given jointly to Dolly Ahluwalia for the film Vicky Donor and Ms Kalpana for the Malyalam film ThanichallaNjan.

The award for the Best Popular Film for providing wholesome entertainment has been jointly given to the Hindi film Vicky Donor and Malayalam film Ustad Hotel.

Anu Kapur has been selected for the best Supporting Actor for the film Vicky Donor and the award for the best supporting Actress has been shared by Dolly Ahluwalia for the film Vicky Donor and Kalpana for the film Malyalam ThanichallaNjan.

On the other hand, Shankar Mahadevan has been selected for the Best Male playback singer for the song Bolo Na from the film Chittagong and the Best Female Playback singer has been conferred on Aarti Anklekartikekar from the Marathi film Samhita for the song Palakein Naa Moon Don.

The award for the best Screen play writer has been conferred on Sujoy Ghosh for the film Kahaani and Prasoon Joshi has been selected for the best lyrics award for his song Bolo Na from the film Chittagong.

In non-feature film category, the award for the Best Film has been conferred to Gojri and Urdu film Shepherds of Paradise . In this category, Vikrant Pawar has been selected for the Best Director award for the Marathi film Kaatal.
Parl adjourned till 3 PM over removal of Steel Minister from Union Cabinet

Both the Houses of Parliament have been adjourned for one hour till 3 PM as Samajwadi Party members rushed to the well of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha seeking the removal of Steel Minister Beni Prasad Varma from the Union Cabinet for his remarks against Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav. Earlier, the Lok Sabha was adjourned on the same issue till 2 PM. As soon as it reassembled, the situation was no different and Deputy Speaker, Karia Munda adjourned the House till 3 PM.

In the Rajya Sabha, Naresh Agarwal of the SP raised the issue seeking apology from the Steel Minister. Members of his party rushed to the well, raising slogans against the Minister forcing the Chair to adjourn the House till 3 PM.

Earlier, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha were disrupted for about ten minutes on Telangana issue.
Cong distances itself from Beni Verma’ remarks against Mulayam

Congress has distanced itself from the controversial remarks made by Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma about Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Briefing the media in New Delhi on Monday, Congress spokesman Rashid Alvi said the party does not subscribe to the views expressed by Mr. Verma and that the party has advised its leaders to be careful while making any statement.

On Sri Lanka, Mr. Alvi assured that the Government will take any decision in the interest of the Tamil people.
