प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह और पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री नवाज शरीफ की कल न्यूयॉर्क में करीब एक घंटे तक चली बैठक में दोनों पक्षों ने आपसी संबंधों की समीक्षा की और संबंध सुधारने के उपायों पर विचार किया। बैठक के बाद संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकार शिवशंकर मेनन ने बताया कि दोनों पक्ष अपने संबंधों को बेहतर बनाना चाहते हैं लेकिन पाकिस्तान को यह साफ कर दिया गया है कि इसके लिए पहले नियंत्रण रेखा पर स्थिति में सुधार लाना होगा।

दोनों देशों के सैन्य अभियानों के महानिदेशकों से संघर्ष विराम और उसका पालन सुनिश्चित करने की स्पष्ट योजना तैयार करने को कहा गया है। प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने आतंकवाद का जिक्र करते हुए मुंबई हमले के दोषियों को सजा दिलाये जाने के लिये कारगर कदम उठाने पर जोर दिया। 
पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री नवाज शरीफ ने कहा है कि पाकिस्तान भी यही चाहता है और इस पर आगे प्रगति होगी। श्री मेनन ने यह भी बताया कि लंबे समय से अनसुलझे सियाचिन और सरक्रीक मुद्दों पर भी बैठक में चर्चा हुई। दोनों पक्षों ने व्यापार और वाणिज्य में सुधार के उपायों पर भी बातचीत की। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि व्यापार में भारत को सर्वाधिक वरीयता वाले राष्ट्र का दर्जा देने और भारत की ओर से वीज+ा प्रणाली उदार बनाने के मुद्दों पर भी विचार-विमर्श किया गया।


दोनों नेताओं के बीच इस वार्ता से यह बात साफ हो जाती है कि दोनों देश आपसी संबंधों में सुधार चाहते हैं। इस वार्ता ने दोनों सरकारों को एक दूसरे को बेहतर तरीके से सोचने का मौका उपलब्ध कराया। यद्यपि दोनों प्रधानमंत्रियों ने एक दूसरे को उनके देश की यात्रा के लिये आमंत्रित किया। मगर अगली उच्च स्तरीय बैठक के बारे में कोई निर्णय नहीं लिया गया। नियंत्रण रेखा पर पाकिस्तान की तरफ से बार-बार संघर्ष बंदी के उल्लंघन, भारतीय सेना के कुछ जवानों को मारे जाने, हाल ही में सांभा के आतंकी हमले की पृष्ठभूमि में होने के बावजूद यह वार्ता दोनों देशों के बीच संबंध सुधारने के प्रयासों में एक अगला कदम है। मगर अब यह जिम्मेदारी पाकिस्तान सरकार पर आती है कि वो सीमा पर संघर्ष बंदी के उल्लंघन और आतंकी कार्रवाई को थामने के लिए फौरी कार्रवाई करे ताकि दक्षिण एशियाई क्षेत्र में अमन और शांति का माहौल बन सके। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए न्यूयॉर्क से मैं वीना जैन के साथ आर के रैना।

सीमा सुरक्षा बल -बीएसएफ ने कहा है कि हाल में जम्मू कश्मीर के हीरानगर और साम्बा में दो आतंकी हमलों में शामिल आतंकवादियों के सीमा पर बाड़ के रास्ते आने के सबूत नहीं हैं। बीएसएफ के अपर महानिदेशक आर डी
सिंह ने जम्मू में संवाददाताओं को बताया कि इस घटना की जांच की जा रही है और दो-तीन दिन में इसकी रिपोर्ट सामने आ जाएगी।

कल कठुआ के हीरानगर सैक्टर में भारत-पाक अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सीमा के साथ लगती अग्रिम चौकियों का दौरा करने के बाद बीएसएफ के अतिरिक्त महानिदेशक ने कहा कि सीमा बल द्वारा आदेशित आंतरिक जांच में सामने आ जायेगा कि उग्रवादियों ने हीरानगर क्षेत्र से घुसपैठ की है या नहीं। गौरतलब है कि गत २६ सितंबर को तीन उग्रवादियों ने सीमापार से क्षेत्र में दाखिल होकर कठुआ में पुलिस और सांबा में एक सैन्य शिविर पर हमला किया था जिसमें फौज और पुलिस के चार-चार कर्मचारियों सहित दस लोगों की जानें गयी थीं। योगेश शर्मा, आकाशवाणी समाचार, जम्मू।

बृहन्नमुम्बई नगर-निगम-बी एम सी ने शुक्रवार को डॉकयार्ड इलाके में इमारत गिरने के सिलसिले में सात अधिकारियों को ड्यूटी में कोताही बरतने के आरोप में निलंबित कर दिया है। बी एम सी इस घटना की प्रशासनिक जांच कराएगी। यह भी निर्णय लिया गया है कि शहर में इमारतों की सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने के लिए एक अलग प्रकोष्ठ गठित किया जाएगा। बीएमसी ने इस घटना के मद्देनजर सभी इमारतों का पुनर्सर्वेक्षण कराने की भी घोषणा की है। मारे गए लोगों के परिवारों के लिए मुआवज+ा राशि बढ़ाकर पांच लाख रुपये कर दी गई है।

उत्तर प्रदेश में मेरठ जिले के सरधना में स्थिति तनावपूर्ण लेकिन नियंत्रण में है। भारतीय जनता पार्टी के गिरफ्तार विधायक संगीत सोम की पत्नी और भाई सहित, महापंचायत के आयोजकों के खिलाफ एफआईआर दर्ज
की जा रही है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि शांति बनाये रखने के लिए कई गांवों में बड़ी संख्या में सुरक्षा बलों की तैनाती की गई है।

हालात को नियंत्रण में होने का दावा करते हुए एक सरकारी प्रवक्ता ने कहा है कि २४ गांवों के उन चार सौ लोगों के खिलाफ भी कार्रवाई की जायेगी जिन्हें महापंचायत पर पाबंदी के बाद नोटिस जारी किया गया था।मेरठ की हिंसा को  लेकर प्रमुख विपक्षी दलों ने राज्य में राष्ट्रपति शासन लगाने की मांग दोहराई है। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया है कि इसलिए राज्य सरकार कानून व्यवस्था बनाये रखने और हिंसा रोकने में विफल रही है। सुनील शुक्ल, आकाशवाणी समाचार, इलाहाबाद।

पाकिस्तान में पेशावर के किस्सा खवानी बाजार में कल हुए कार बम विस्फोट में चालीस लोग मारे गए हैं और अस्सी घायल हुए हैं। पुलिस ने बताया कि कार में करीब दो सौ बीस किलोग्राम विस्फोटक रखा था। इस विस्फोट से कम से कम पचास दुकानें नष्ट हो गईं और आसपास खड़ी गाड़ियों में आग लग गई। विस्फोट उस समय हुआ जब ड्यूटी पर तैनात एक पुलिसकर्मी ने ड्राइवर से कार वहां से हटाने को कहा।

रासायनिक शस्त्र निषेध संगठन के निरीक्षकों का दल आज सुबह सीरिया के लिए रवाना होगा और कल दमिश्क पहुंच जाएगा। सीरिया में ये निरीक्षक रासायनिक हथियारों के भण्डार की जांच करेंगे। इस संगठन के हेग स्थित मुख्यालय में पत्रकारों को यह जानकारी दी गई है। जांच के लिए कुल तीस दिन का समय दिया गया है। संगठन की योजना के अनुसार सीरिया में सभी सामरिक विषाक्त पदाथोर्ं के भण्डारों को पूर्ण रूप से नष्ट करने का काम अगले
साल के मध्य तक सम्पन्न किया जाना है।

नाइजीरिया में एक कृषि कॉलेज के छात्रावास में हुए आतंकवादी हमले में कम से कम ५० लोग मारे गए हैं। सेना के मुताबिक हमलावर रात के अंधेरे में छात्रावास में घुसे और छात्रों पर गोलियां बरसा दीं। नाइजीरियाई सेना के मुताबिक उत्तरी नाइजीरिया के योबे प्रांत में हुए इस हमले को इस्लामी संगठन बोको हरम के संदिग्ध आतंकवादियों ने अंजाम दिया।

रांची में सीबीआई की विशेष अदालत चारा घोटाले मामले में आज फैसला सुनाएगी। इस मामले में बिहार के दो पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री- लालू प्रसाद यादव और जगन्ननाथ मिश्र तथा अन्य ४३ लोग आरोपी हैं। अगर लालू प्रसाद यादव को दोषी पाया गया तो उन्हें  लोकसभा की सदस्यता से तत्काल अयोग्य घोषित किया जा सकता है। यह मामला चाईबासा कोषागार से अवैध तरीके से ३७ करोड़ रुपए निकाले जाने के बारे में है।

यूपीए अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी ने कहा है कि जाति और मज+हब के आधार पर कमजोर तबकों के साथ भेदभाव प्रगति के रास्ते में बाधा है। श्रीमती गांधी ने तिरूवनन्तपुरम के पास राजीव गांधी विकास अध्ययन संस्थान के प्रशिक्षण और अनुसंधान परिसर का उदघाटन करने के बाद यह बात कही।  यूपीए अध्यक्ष ने केरल सरकार की स्वास्थ्य परियोजना आरोग्य किरणम की भी शुरूआत की। इस परियोजना के तहत सरकारी अस्पतालों और प्राथमिक स्वास्थ्य केन्द्रों में मरीजों को विभिन्न प्रकार की ८२० दवाएं बांटी जाएंगी।

 असम में सोनोवाल कछारी स्वायत्त परिषद की २६ सीटों के लिए वोट डाले जा रहे हैं। सवेरे सात बजे शुरू हुआ मतदान दोपहर तीन बजे तक चलेगा। आधिकारिक सूत्रों ने बताया कि सात जि+लों में कुल ११६ उम्मीदवार चुनाव मैदान में हैं।  २८५ मतदान केन्द्र बनाए गए हैं। एक लाख ४३ मतदाता अपने मताधिकार का प्रयोग कर सकेंगे। डिब्रूगढ़ जि+ले की ११ सीटों के लिए ४४ उम्मीदवार चुनाव मैदान में हैं।

पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार शारदा चिटफंड घोटाले के निवेशकों के पैसे लौटायेगी। मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी आज कोलकाता में एक समारोह में हजारों निवेशकों को उनकी राशि के चेक देंगी। राज्य सरकार ने दुर्गा पूजा से पहले एक लाख निवेशकों के पैसे लौटाने का फैसला किया है।इस बीच, विपक्ष के नेता सूर्यकांत मिश्र ने घोटाले में फंसे निवेशकों के पैसे लौटाने पर सरकारी खजाने से राशि खर्च करने के लिए राज्य सरकार की आलोचना की है। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया है कि करदाताओं के पैसे खर्च किये जा रहे हैं, जबकि शारदा ग्रुप की संपत्ति से यह राशि लौटाई जानी चाहिए थी।

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh  held his first meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister's Nawaz Sharief in New York today. The meeting ended a shortwhile ago. Initial reports say Dr. Manmohan Singh raised terrorism issue and violations along LOC.   

Overall impression from meeting was that it was useful, because it  provided an occasion for high level contact and discussion on the issues which are troubling the relationship. And this was necessary at this time.  We will now see how both sides take it forward over the next few months.

Addressing the UN General Assembly last night, the Prime Minister once again made clear India's stand on Jammu and Kashmir.

There must be a clear understanding of the fact that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and that there  can  never, ever, be a compromise with the unity and territorial integrity of India.

In a hard-hitting speech, Dr. Singh asked Pakistan to shut down the terrorist machinery on its soil. He reiterated that terrorism remains a grave threat to security and stability everywhere and extracts a heavy toll of innocent lives around the world.

The Prime Minister said India is committed sincerely to resolving all issues with Pakistan including the issue of Jammu and Kashmir through bilateral dialogue on the basis of the Shimla agreement. Dr. Manmohan Singh asserted, however, for progress to be made it is imperative that the territory of Pakistan and the areas under its control are not utilised for aiding and abetting terrorism directed against India.                                                              <><>

In Uttar Pradesh, the situation in Kheda village in Sardhana police area of Meerut is under control where the villagers clashed with the police defying prohibitory and ban orders to hold the Mahapanchayat today. Administration said more than 50 people have been arrested. The Mahapanchayat was convened by some political leaders to protest the slapping of the National Security Act against BJP MLA from Sardhana, Sangeet Som who is in the jail on charges of inciting communal flare up in the recent Muzaffarnagar violence.

Our Lucknow correspondent reports that two government vehicles were burnt by the mob and many vehicles were ransacked. Police said a youth was also injured by a rubber bullet used by the police but he is out of danger.

Security forces have been deployed at several villages to maintain peace and law and order. Ignoring the administrative arrangements large numbers of people were reached at the Kheda village raising slogans against the state government and making demands for quashing of FIRs lodged against locals and their leaders. Initially Administrative officers tried to disperse the mob with persuasion but it was not heeded by them. The villagers turned violent following use of force by the police. Meanwhile, CM Akhilesh Yadav said in Lucknow that nobody will be spared if he or she tries to break the law. The opposition parties including BSP, BJP, RLD and Congress have severely criticised the government for its alleged failure to handle the situation in Sardhana.

The BJP has named party President Rajnath Singh as the election campaign committee chief replacing Narendra Modi. The decision was taken at the party's Parliamentary Board meeting in New Delhi this evening. Modi, who is the BJP's prime ministerial candidate for the upcoming general elections, was anointed as election campaign committee chief in June this year.

The Congress has accused Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi of ignoring the people of his state which is facing a flood threat. Talking to the media in New Delhi today, party leader Rashid Alvi said at a time when Modi is needed by the people of Gujarat, he is misguiding the nation. Alvi's remarks follow Narendra Modi's criticism of the UPA government at a rally in Delhi this afternoon.

Five people were killed when a private chopper crashed near Murbad in Thane district adjacent to Mumbai this morning.  Speaking to media persons Thane Rural SP Anil Kumbhare said the identity of the deceased was yet to be ascertained. He said the deceased including the pilot were the employees of a private operator United Heli Charters.

Air Traffic Control sources said the chopper had taken off from Juhu aerodrome in Mumbai at 7. 45 for Nagpur via Aurangabad where it had to refuel.  The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has rushed a team to the accident spot to investigate the cause of the mishap.

In Pakistan at least 37 people, including nine from one family, were killed and 103 others injured when a massive car bomb exploded in the historic Qissa Khwani market in Peshawar today. Among the injured at least 12 are in a critical condition.  The police said 225 kg of explosives were planted in a parked car and it was detonated by remote control. The blast damaged shops and caused many vehicles to go up in flames.

Some reports said there were two blasts but it is yet to be confirmed by the authorities. The provincial Information Minister said that the Peshawar Police Station was the main target of the attack.  Pakistani Taliban were generally blamed for such attacks. However, the banned militant group has denied its involvement in today's blast.  This is the third blast in the city since last Sunday when over 80 people were killed as twin suicide bombers struck a historic church.

In Nigeria, suspected Boko Haram gunmen killed at least 40 students during an early morning attack on a post-secondary school dormitory in the north-east of the county. An Army spokesman said that gunmen stormed the School of Agriculture in Yobe State early this morning firing on students as they slept. At least 18 students are being treated for injuries at a hospital in the state capital of Damataru. The school is located in Gubja, a rural area some 50 kilometers away.   North-eastern Nigeria is under a state of emergency amid an Islamic insurgency by the Boko Haram group. Boko Haram is fighting to overthrow Nigeria's government to create an Islamist state, and has launched a number of attacks on schools.

The Syrian opposition coalition has said that it is ready to join the UN led efforts to hold an international conference in Geneva to find a comprehensive political solution to the crisis in Syria. The move follows a meeting of the UN secretary General Ban Ki Moon with the Chief of the Syrian Opposition national coalition, Ahmed-al Jarba in New York yesterday.    Meanwhile, Syria’s Prime Minister Wael Al Halqi has said that his country will fully cooperate with UN inspectors on dismantling Syria’s chemical weapons arsenal.

Norwegian airlines, Air Shuttle, is returning one of its brand new Dreamliners to Boeing, demanding repairs after the jet has suffered repeated breakdowns. Norway's airlines has said that it will not take back the Boeing 787 Dreamliner until it is more reliable. The airlines spokesman said the aircraft's reliability is simply not acceptable, its passengers cannot live with this kind of performance.

The Sri Lankan government has said that provincial councils including the Tamil-dominated Northern Province will have no land and police powers. Minister of Information and government spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said this in Colombo today as the main Tamil party Tamil National Alliance (TNA) met in the Sri Lankan capital today to deliberate on the future functioning of the Northern Provincial Council.

The Supreme Court on Thursday annulled an earlier Appeal Court ruling that provinces have the right to exercise land powers. It may be noted that TNA won 30 out of 36 seats in last week's first-ever Northern Provincial elections in 25 years in the formerwar-torn region,which was seen as a rejection of government policies there

Punjab, the food bowl of the country, is reaping double benefits by introducing solar powered submersible pumps on 70 per cent subsidised rates to those farmers who are using drip irrigation. This double benefit programme is not only saving electricity used for irrigation but also saving 40 to 60 per cent water and giving many fold increased yield. Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has already given 100 solar-powered submersible pumps in the last few months among farmers on 70 per cent subsidized rates. India will soon have a unique ‘Khadi Mark’- logo to authenticate the purity of Khadi. This was disclosed by Mr. Devendra Desai, Chairman of Khadi and Village Industry Commission KVIC. Our Ahmedabad correspondent reports that Mr.Desai said that President Pranab Mukherjee will dedicate this unique ‘Khadi Mark’- logo to the nation at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi tomorrow. He said that this will give a new identity to Indian Khadi- which is also the thought process of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation. Mr. Devendra Desai said that this will boost the sale of Khadi and also the employment generation in rural India.

India beat Malaysia 3-0 in  Sultan of Johor Cup under 21 hockey tournament.  In the final match held at Taman Daya Stadium in Malaysia, Amon Mirash Tirkey scored the first goal for India in the 22nd minute. In the second half Yousuf Affan netted the second goal in the 54th minute while Indian skipper Manpreet Singh hit the third goal when six minutes were left. India and Malaysia played out a 3-3 draw in the final pool game which was the dress rehearsal for the final. Both India and Malaysia finished with 13 points and were unbeaten in the round robin stages but the Indians managed the top position on account of a better goal difference.

न्यूयार्क में प्रधानमंत्री डाक्टर मनमोहन सिंह की पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री नवाज शरीफ के साथ बातचीत कुछ देर पहले शुरू हुई। इस बारे में ब्यौरे की प्रतीक्षा है। खबरों के अनुसार डाक्टर मनमोहन सिंह श्री शरीफ को अपने देश से लश्करे-तैयबा तथा जमात-हुत-दावा के प्रमुख हाफिज सईद जैसे आतंकवादियों कीे भारत में आतंकी गतिविधियों पर  रोक लगाने को कह सकते हैं।

इससे पहले कल, डा. मनमोहन सिंह ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि जम्मू-कश्मीर भारत  का अभिन्न अंग है।

इस वास्तविकता को स्पष्ट रूप से समझ लेना चाहिए कि जम्मू और कश्मीर भारत का अभिन्न अंग है और भारत की एकता और क्षेत्रीय अखंडता के साथ किसी भी तरह का समझौता नहीं हो सकता। 

डा. सिंह ने पाकिस्तान को कड़ा संदेश देते हुए कहा कि पाकिस्तान अपने यहां आतंकवादी ढांचे को खत्म करे। उन्होंने दोहराया कि आतंकवाद हर जगह सुरक्षा और स्थिरता के लिये गंभीर खतरा बना हुआ है और इसके कारण दुनिया भर में बड़ी संख्या में  निर्दोष लोगों को अपनी जान गवानी पड़ी है।

प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि भारत, पाकिस्तान के साथ कश्मीर सहित सभी मुद्दों को ईमानदारी से शिमला समझौते के तहत आपसी बातचीत से सुलझाने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है।

उत्तर प्रदेश में मेरठ जिले के खेड़ा गांव में स्थिति नियंत्रण में है। यहां  आज प्रतिबंधित महापंचायत करने के लिये इकटठी हुई भीड़ और पुलिस के बीच झड़पों में एक व्यक्ति घायल हो गया । पचास से अधिक लोगों को गिरफ्‌तार कर लिया गया है। ये लोग मुजफ्‌फरनगर में हाल की हिंसा के सिलसिले में राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा कानून के तहत गिरफ्‌तार भाजपा विधायक संगीत सोम और अन्य की गिरफ्‌तारी के विरोध में महापंचायत करने के लिये एक कालेज में इकट्ठा हुए थे।

मेरठ ज+ोन के पुलिस महानिरीक्षक ने पुलिस कार्रवाई में किसी की मृत्यु हो जाने से इंकार किया है और प्रशासन की मदद के लिए सेना बुलाए जाने को भी नकार दिया है। उनका कहना है कि हिंसा में शामिल और सार्वजनिक संपत्ति को नुकसान पहुंचाने वालों को बख्+शा नहीं जाएगा। इलाके में कानून व्यवस्था बनाए रखने के लिए बड़ी संख्या में सुरक्षाकर्मी तैनात किए गए हैं। महापंचायत में लोगों को शामिल होने से रोकने के लिए की गई व्यवस्थाओं को नकारकर बड़ी संख्या में लोग खेड़ा गांव थे। वे मुजफ्फरनगर हिंसा के सिलसिले में गिरफ्तार अपने नेताओं की रिहाई और दर्ज मुकदमों को समाप्त करने की मांग कर रहे थे। सुनील शुक्ल, आकाशवाणी समाचार, इलाहाबाद। 

इस बीच मुख्यमंत्री अखिलेश यादव ने लखनऊ में कहा कि कानून तोड़ने की कोशिश करने वाले किसी भी व्यक्ति को बक्शा नहीं जायेगा। भारतीय जनता पार्टी, बहुजन समाज पार्टी, राष्ट्रीय लोकदल और कांग्रेस सहित विपक्षी दलों ने खेड़ा में स्थिति पर नियंत्रण पाने में कथित विफलता के लिये राज्य सरकार की काफी आलोचना की थी।

मुंबई से लगे ठाणे जिले के मुरबाड के निकट आज सुबह एक निजी हेलीकॉप्टर के दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो जाने से उसमें सवार सभी पांच लोग मारे गए। ठाणे ग्रामीण के पुलिस अधीक्षक अनिल कुंभरे ने  बताया कि मारे गए लोगों की पहचान अभी नहीं हो पाई है। दुर्घटना में हेलीकॉप्टर पायलट समेत सभी लोग मारे गए हैं। नागर विमानन महानिदेशालय ने दुर्घटना के कारणों की जांच के लिए एक टीम मौके पर भेज दी है।

ओड़िशा में विभिन्न स्थानों पर बिजली गिरने की घटनाओं में कम से कम सात लोग मारे गए हैं और पांच घायल हुए हैं। आधिकारिक सूत्रों ने भुवनेश्वर में बताया कि बिजली गिरने से कल शाम नुआपाड़ा जिले में तीन, गंजम जिले में दो और बोलनगीर  तथा कालाहांडी जिलों में एक-एक व्यक्ति मारा गया।

ग्रामीण विकास मंत्री जयराम रमेश ने कहा है कि नए भूमि अधिग्रहण कानून में  पुनर्स्थापन और पुनर्वास का प्रावधान किया गया है। आज मुंबई में उन्होंने कहा कि इसमें किसानों और  जिन लोगों की भी भूमि अधिग्रहित की जाएगी उन्हें उचित मुआवजा देने की व्यवस्था की गई  है।  श्री रमेश ने कहा कि यह कानून सार्वजनिक उद्देश्य के लिए केन्द्र और राज्य द्वारा अधिग्रहीत की गई भूमि पर ही लागू होगा लेकिन निजी भूमि की खरीद पर कोई प्रतिबंध नहीं है। श्री रमेश ने कहा कि ग्रामीण विकास मंत्रालय देश में भूमि रिकॉर्ड प्रबंधन में सुधार लाने की दिशा में काम कर रहा है और जमीन की बिक्री में पारदर्शिता को बढ़ावा दे रहा है।

कपड़ा मंत्रालय ने सरकार से कपड़ा उद्योग को महात्मा गांधी राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण रोजगार गारंटी योजना - मनरेगा के साथ जोड़ने का अनुरोध किया है। कपड़ा मंत्री कावरू संभाशिव राव ने एक समाचार एजेंसी को बताया कि इससे मानव संसाधन की कमी से जूझ रहे कपड़ा उद्योग में बड़ी संख्या में कुशल कर्मियों को आकर्षित किया जा सकेगा। उन्होंने कहा कि इस बारे में वे प्रधानमंत्री को पत्र लिख चुके हैं। श्री राव ने बताया कि देश के कपड़ा निर्यात को वैश्विक स्तर पर प्रतिस्पर्द्धी बनाने के लिए उनका मंत्रालय अगले तीन साल ं में १५ लाख लोगों को प्रशिक्षित करना चाहता है। उन्होंने कहा कि कपड़ा क्षेत्र में कौशल विकास के लिए सरकार ने एक हज+ार नौ सौ करोड़ रूपये आवंटित किए हैं।

पाकिस्तान के अशांत उत्तर पश्चिमी क्षेत्र में आज  हुए एक कार बम विस्फोट में कम से कम ३७ लोग मारे गए हैं और १०३ लोग घायल हुए हैं। घायलों में १२ लोगों की हालत गंभीर बताई गई है। पिछले रविवार से यह तीसरा बम हमला है। खैबर पख्तूनख्वा प्रांत की राजधानी पेशावर में खान रजिक थाने के समीप ऐतिहासिक किस्सा ख्वानी बाजार में यह कार बम धमाका हुआ। विस्फोट में २२५ किलोग्राम विस्फोटक सामग्री का इस्तेमाल किया गया। कुछ खबरों में कहा गया है कि दो धमाके हुए लेकिन अब तक पुलिस ने इसकी पुष्टि या खण्डन नहीं किया है।

नाइजीरिया में इस्लामी गुट बोको हरम के संदिग्ध बंदूकधारियों द्वारा एक स्कूल की डॉरमेट्री में आज तड़के किए गए हमले में कम से कम ४० छात्रों की मौत हो गई और १८ घायल हो गए। सेना के एक प्रवक्ता ने बताया कि संदिग्ध हमलावरों ने उत्तर पूर्वी नाइजीरिया के योबे राज्य के गुबजा ग्रामीण इलाके में एक स्कूल में छात्रों पर उस समय हमला किया जब वे सो रहे थे। घायल छात्रों का दामातारू के अस्पताल में इलाज किया जा रहा है।

सीरिया के विपक्षी गठबंधन ने कहा है कि वह सीरिया संकट का व्यापक राजनीतिक समाधान ढ़ूंढने के लिए जिनेवा में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन आयोजित करने के संयुक्त राष्ट्र के प्रयासों में शामिल होने को तैयार है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि यह कदम संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव बान की मून और सीरिया के विपक्षी गठबंधन के नेता अहमद जराबा के बीच कल न्यूयार्क में हुई बैठक के बाद उठाया गया है। बान की मून ने यह सम्मेलन नवंबर के मध्य में आयोजित करने का प्रस्ताव किया है।

इस बीच, सीरिया में रासायनिक हथियारों का भण्डार नष्ट करने का अभियान मंगलवार से आरंभ होगा जो कि अब तक के सबसे बड़े और खतरनाक निशस्त्रीकरण अभियानों में से एक है। सीरिया में एक हजार टन से अधिक जहरीली गैस और अन्य प्रतिबंधित खतरनाक रासायनिक हथियार हैं। संयुक्त राष्ट्र और वैश्विक रासायनिक हथियारों पर नजर रखने वालों ने विशेषज्ञों से इस अभियान में शामिल होने की अपील की गई है।

कांग्रेस ने गुजरात के मुख्यमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी पर आरोप लगाया है कि वे बाढ़ से जूझ रहे अपने राज्य के लोगों की उपेक्षा कर रहे हैं। पार्टी नेता राशिद अल्वी में कहा कि गुजरात के लोगों को श्री मोदी की जरूरत है। उन्होंने कहा कि श्री मोदी राष्ट्र को गुमराह कर रहे हैं। श्री अल्वी की यह टिप्पणी आज दिल्ली में एक रैली में श्री मोदी द्वारा यूपीए सरकार की आलोचना के बाद आई है।

भारत और चीन के अधिकारियों ने आज सीमा सुरक्षा तंत्र को अंतिम रूप देने जैसे विभिन्न मुद्दों पर चौथे दौर की बातचीत की। आशा है कि इस तंत्र पर प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह की अगले महीने होने वाली चीन यात्रा के दौरान हस्ताक्षर किए जाएंगे। भारत-चीन सीमा मामले पर विचार-विमर्श और समन्वय के लिए कार्यकारी तंत्र की दो दिन की बैठक में प्रस्तावित सीमा सुरक्षा सहयोग समझौते पर विचार हो सकता है। इसका उद्देश्य नियंत्रण रेखा पर दोनो तरफ गश्त के सिलसिले में तनाव से और कारगर तरीके से निपटना है। यह वार्ता नियंत्रण रेखा पर चीन के सैनिकों द्वारा कई बार घुसपैठ की पृष्ठभूमि में हो रही है।

भारत ने तीसरा सुल्तान जोहर कप अंडर-२१ हॉकी टूर्नामेंट जीत लिया है। फाइनल में भारत ने मेजबान मलेशिया को एकतरफा मुकाबले में ३-० से पराजित किया। भारत के लिए अमोन मिराश टिर्की, यूसुफ अफान और कप्तान मनप्रीत सिंह ने गोल किए।
चीन के लुआन में १५वीं एशियाई सीनियर रोइंग चैंपियनशिप में आज ओलंपियन स्वर्ण सिंह विर्क ने सिंगल स्कल्स में स्वर्ण पदक जीता। इसके अलावा भारत ने दो रजत और और दो कांस्य पदक भी हासिल किये।

देश में अनाज का भरपूर उत्पादन करने वाला राज्य पंजाब ड्रिप सिंचाई करने वाले किसानों को सौर ऊर्जाचलित सब-मर्सिबल पंप पर सत्तर प्रतिशत सब्सिडी दे रहा है। इससे न केवल बिजली की बचत हो रही है बल्कि चालीस से साठ प्रतिशत पानी  भी बच रहा है । इस तरह फसल उत्पादन में भी काफी बढ़ौत्तरी हो रही है।

टुपका सिंचाई सौर सब-मर्सिबल पम्पों के संयोजन ने फसलों, विशेषकर बागवानी की फसलों की उपज में इजाफा किया है। जालंधर के कृषि विकास अधिकारी नरेश गुलाटी ने बताया कि पंजाब में अस्सी प्रतिशत बागों में टुपका सिंचाई का उपयोग हो रहा है। पंजाब ऊर्जा विकास एजेंसी-पेटा पहले ही ७० फीसदी की रियायती दर पर, बीते कुछ महीनों में सौ ऐसे पम्प किसानों को दे चुकी है और पांच सौ और इस वर्ष में दिए जाएंगे। राजेश बाली आकाशवणी समाचार, जालंधर।

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has made a strong case for urgent reform ofthe UN Security Council to reflect current political realities by including more developing countries as both permanent and non-permanent members. Addressing the UN General Assembly, he also said multilateral financial institutions should give developing countries an enhanced voice in their decision-making structures. He said, multilateral efforts must guide the quest for peace and security wherever they are threatened and the centrality and contribution of the UN system to development must be restored.

The UN Security Council must be reformed and restructured to reflect current political realities. More developing countries should be included as both permanent and non permanent members. Multi lateral financial institutions should also enable an enhanced voice for developing countries in their decision making structure.

Turning to Pakistan, the Prime Minister made  it clear that there can never, ever be a compromise on the territorial integrity of India of which Jammu andKashmir is an integral part. In a hard-hitting speech, Dr. Singh asked Pakistan to shut down terrorist machinery on its soil. He reiterated that terrorism remains a grave threat to security and stability everywhere and extracts a heavy toll of innocent lives around the world. 

Indian is committed sincerely to dissolving all issues with Pakistan including the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. Through bilateral dialogue on the basis of the Shimla agreement. However, for progress to be made, it is imperative that the territory of Pakistan and the areas under its control are not utilised for aiding and abetting terrorism directed against India.

The 68th Session of UN General Assembly is being presided over by John .W. Ashe , former Ambassador  of Antigua and Barbuda to the UN, and is based on the theme  “Post -2015  Development Agenda”. Addressing the delegatesthe Prime Minister pointed out  that this  theme  is especially important as we deal with a lingering global economic slowdown and continuing volatility in financial markets. He pointed out that the problems of over a billion people living in abject poverty around the world need to be attacked more directly. 

Expressing concern over the disturbances in West Asia, particularly in Syria , the Prime Minister said the increasingly lethal conflict in that country is not only a tragedy for the people of Syria, but also threatens stability and security in the region and beyond.  

Dr. Manmohan Singh will hold his first meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today where he is likely to ask him to rein in terror elements operating from Pakistan's soil and unleashing violence in India.  More from our correspondent:

While 68th session of United Nations general Assembly is going on in New York, but attention of the while would is focussed on the meeting between Manmohan Singh and his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif. Finance Minister P Chidambaram today said that rural youth should come forward to start industries. Inaugurating the 3,044th branch of Syndicate Bank in Pudukottai district in Tamil Nadu, he said that like urban youth who have utilized bank loans to start industries, rural youth should start industries and better their livelihood. He said that the UPA government is giving importance in starting new bank branches in remote and rural areas.

Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has charged the UPA government with failure to provide good governance. Addressing a rally in Delhi this afternoon, Mr. Modi alleged that the Centre also failed to provide employment to the youth of the country. He claimed that the NDA government, during its six-year rule, had provided employment to six crore youth compared to 27 lakh jobs created by the UPA between 2004 and 2009. Mr Modi also criticised the Delhi State government for its failure to maintain law and order. He said the state government is not ready to take any responsibility to ensure infrastructure development.

In Maharashtra, a helicopter belonging to a private company crashed near Malshej ghat in Thane district adjacent to Mumbai this morning. According to initial police reports five persons are feared killed in the mishap. The chopper, carrying at least five passengers took off from Juhu airport around 7.45 and was scheduled to reach Aurangabad at 9.30. Search operation is being organized to trace the chopper in the remote and inaccessible hills near Malshej where it crashed.

In Mumbai, rescue operation was called off this morning, nearly two days after the collapse of the five-storey building, owned by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, BMC in dockyard area. According to BMC disaster Management control room officials 61 persons have died in the mishap and 32 persons were injured.

Officials informed that out of 32 injured persons, condition of 3 is stated to be serious. They said, eight deceased have been identified including Yogesh Pawar, a journalist with Marathi daily. The officials said, cranes and other heavy machinery have been pressed into service to lift large slabs of concrete and mangled steel from the site.

In Uttar Pradesh, thousands of participants have reportedly reached in the 'Sarwadaliya Mahapanchayat' in Kheda village of Sardhana in Meerut defying the state government ban. The call for the Mahapanchayat was given by some political leaders who are protesting the arrest of Sardhana MLA Sangeet Singh Som in connection with his alleged role of inciting conflicts in the recent Muzaffanagar violence.

Our correspondent quoting sources, reports that DM, SSP  and divisional Commissioner of Meerut are present at the venue to control the situation. The administration is making all efforts to peacefully disperse the people gathered in Kheda. 32 companies of paramilitary forces and heavy posse of police and the PAC have been deployed in the district to avert any untoward incident.

In Uttar Pradesh, the death toll due to encephalitis has gone up to 319 as 10 more children have succumbed to the disease during past two days in Gorakhpur and Basti divisions. More than 170 patients are undergoing treatment in different government hospitals. Meanwhile a total of 647 dengue patients have also been detected across the state during the current monsoon. “Encephalitis and Dengue fever is caused by mosquito bite. The density of different species of mosquitoes has increased manifold in Himalayan foothills of eastern region. On an average 15 to 20 patients of encephalitis and dengue are coming to government hospitals. The BRD Medical College hospital is the main hub where encephalitis patients are being treated. At least 31 people were killed and over 70 injured in a car bomb blast in Peshawar in Pakistan's restive northwest today. The blast occurred in Qissa Khawani bazaar near a police station. Media reports say, the blast took place in a car, parked near the police station. They said the explosion was detonated with a remote device. A fire erupted soon after the explosion and at least eight shops were damaged.

Rescue officials have reached the blast site and taken the injured to a near by Hospital where an emergency was declared. Many of the injured are in critical condition.

The Syrian opposition coalition has said that it is ready to join the UN led efforts to hold an international conference in Geneva to find a comprehensive political solution to the crisis in Syria. The move follows a meeting of the UN secretary General Ban Ki Moon with the Chief of the Syrian Opposition national coalition, Ahmed-al Jarba in New York yesterday. The Syrian National opposition coalition led by Ahmed Jaraba is the latest group to join the Geneva-II peace conference. Ban Ki Moon has told the opposition Coalition to reach out to other groups and agree on a representative and united delegation. He said there is an urgent need to start a serious dialogue as soon as possible and also underlined the need to ensure accountability for war crimes. The UN Secretary General has proposed to hold Geneva-II peace conference in Mid-November with representatives of the Syrian regime and the opposition to find a comprehensive political solution to the two and a half year long crisis in Syria. Named as Talvar, the Electrical Heavy Weight Torpedoes (EHWT) testing lab would also serve the needs of the prestigious heavy weight torpedo ‘Varunastra’ project and the future such projects to be undertaken. The centre was equipped with all the technical facilities required for carrying out sub-system level assembly, functional checks, system checks, preparation, balancing, pressure tests and full torpedo evaluation and would speed up the process of making of the torpedoes. प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद में मौजूदा राजनीतिक वास्तविकताओं के अनुरूप  शीघ्र सुधार की आवश्यकता पर बल दिया है। उन्होंने स्थायी और अस्थायी सदस्यों के रूप में और विकासशील देशों को शामिल कर सुरक्षा परिषद के पुनर्गठन की अपील दोहराई है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा को संबोधित करते हुए प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि बहुआयामी वित्तीय संस्थाओं को अपने निर्णय लेने की प्रक्रिया में विकासशील देशों को और अधिक महत्व देना चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि शांति और सुरक्षा के लिए बहुआयामी प्रयासों की आवश्यकता है और विकास प्रक्रिया में संयुक्त राष्ट्र की केन्द्रीय भूमिका बहाल की जानी चाहिए। डॉ० सिंह ने कहा कि शांति और सुरक्षा से जुड़े मुद्दों को सुलझाने में संयुक्त राष्ट्र के प्रति बढ़ता अविश्वास इसमें शीघ्र सुधारों की आवश्यकता को रेखांकित करता है। 
 
सुरक्षा परिषद में सुधार की आवश्यकता है। मौजूदा राजनीतिक हकीकत को देखते हुए इसका पुनर्गठन किया जाना चाहिए। विकासशील देशों को स्थायी और अस्थायी सदस्यों के रूप में प्रतिनिधित्व दिया जाना चाहिए। बहुउद्देशीय वित्तीय संस्थानों को निर्णय प्रक्रिया में विकासशील देशों की आवाज बुलंद करनी चाहिए।

प्रधानमंत्री ने स्पष्ट किया कि जम्मू कश्मीर भारत का अभिन्न अंग है और देश की क्षेत्रीय अखंडता के साथ कोई समझौता नहीं किया जा सकता। अपने स्पष्ट और दो टूक बयान में प्रधानमंत्री ने पाकिस्तान से अपनी जमीन से चलाए जा रहे आतंकवादी नेटवर्क समाप्त करने को कहा। उन्होंने स्पष्ट कहा कि सीमा पार से चलाया जा रहा आतंकवाद भारत के लिए विशेष रूप से चिंता का विषय है। 
 
भारत पाकिस्तान के साथ शिमला समझौते के आधार पर द्विपक्षीय बातचीत के जरिए जम्मू कश्मीर सहित सभी मामलों को हल करने के लिए गंभीरता से प्रतिबद्ध है। हालांकि आगे बढ़ने के लिए यह जरूरी है कि पाकिस्तान की जमीन  और उसके नियंत्रण का कोई भी हिस्सा भारत के खिलाफ आतंकवाद को बढ़ावा देने और चलाने के लिए इस्तेमाल ना किया जाए। यह भी उतना ही महत्वपूर्ण है कि आतंकवादी तंत्र जिसे पाकिस्तान से बल मिलता है, उसे बंद किया जाना चाहिए।

प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह आज पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री नवाज शरीफ से मिलेंगे। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि उम्मीद है कि प्रधानमंत्री मुलाकात में पाकिस्तान से चलाये जा रहे आतंकवाद का मुद्दा उठायेंगे और श्री नवाज शरीफ से भारत में हिंसा फैलाने वाले आतंकी तत्वों पर सीधी कार्रवाई करने को कहेंगे। श्री शरीफ के पाकिस्तान में सत्ता में लौटने के बाद डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह के साथ यह पहली बैठक होगी। 

न्यूयॉर्क में जहां एक तरफ संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा का ६८वां सत्र जारी है। वहीं दुनिया भर की निगाहें इस महासभा के बाहर  भारत और पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्रियों के बीच आज होने वाली बातचीत पर टिकी हुई हैं। गौरतलब है कि पाकिस्तान के नए प्रधानमंत्री नवाज शरीफ ने अपना पदभार संभालने पर ऐलान किया था कि वो भारत के साथ अपने रिश्ते मजबूत बनाने के ख्वाहिशमंद हैं वहीं उनके सत्ता में आने के बाद से ही जम्मू कश्मीर राज्य में नियंत्रण रेखा पर पाकिस्तान की ओर से भारतीय चौकियों को सैनिकों को निशाना बनाकर, गोलीबारी और सीमा पार से घुसपैठ की कोशिशों में काफी तेजी आई है और सांबा का आतंकी हमला इसकी ताजा मिसाल है। ऐसे में दोनों राष्ट्रों के प्रधानमंत्री किस तरह की मुलाकात करते हैं, क्या दोनों मुल्कों के बीच वार्ता प्रक्रिया आगे बढ़ाने पर कोई सहमति हो पाती है ये चंद प्रश्न सबकी उत्सुकता की वहज बनें हुए हैं। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए न्यूयॉर्क से वीना जैन के साथ आर.के. रैना।

भारत और चीन नए सीमा समझौते पर आज पेइचिंग में वार्ता करेंगे।  प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह की अगले महीने की चीन यात्रा से पहले और नियंत्रण रेखा पर चीन के सैनिकों की कई बार घुसपैठ की पृष्ठभूमि में यह बैठक हो रही है। इस समझौते पर प्रधानमंत्री की चीन यात्रा के दौरान  हस्ताक्षर किये जाने की संभावना है। 
भारत और चीन ने अब तक सीमा विवाद हल करने के लिए विशेष प्रतिनिधि स्तर की १६ दौर की वार्ता की है।

पाकिस्तान में पेशावर में एक कार बम विस्फोट में ३१ लोगों की मौत हो गई और ७० से अधिक घायल हो गए। मीडिया रिपोर्टों के अनुसार पुलिस स्टेशन के नजदीक पार्क की गई एक कार में रिमोट कंट्रोल से यह विस्फोट हुआ। बचाव अधिकारियों ने    घटना स्थल पर पहुंच कर घायलों को अस्पताल पहुंचाया। कई घायलों की स्थिति गंभीर है। पिछले रविवार से यह तीसरा विस्फोट है। रविवार को एक गिरजाघर में हुए दोहरे आत्मघाती विस्फोट में ८० से अधिक लोगों की मौत हो गई थी। शुक्रवार को हुए विस्फोट में १९ लोगों की मौत हो गई थी।

सीरिया के विपक्षी गठबंधन ने कहा है कि वह सीरिया संकट का व्यापक राजनीतिक समाधान ढ़ूंढने के लिए जिनेवा में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन आयोजित करने के संयुक्त राष्ट्र के प्रयासों में शामिल होने को तैयार है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि यह कदम संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव बान की मून और सीरिया के विपक्षी गठबंधन के नेता अहमद जराबा के बीच कल न्यूयार्क में हुई बैठक के बाद उठाया गया है। बान की मून ने यह सम्मेलन नवंबर के मध्य में आयोजित करने का प्रस्ताव किया है। 
 
संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव बान की मून ने विपक्षी गुट से अन्य विद्रोही गुटों को साथ लेकर एक संयुक्त विपक्षी गठबंधन को सामने लाने का सुझाव दिया है, जो प्रस्तावित सम्मेलन में हिस्सा लेगा। बान की मून ने सीरिया के संकट के हल के लिए गहन  बातचीत की वकालत की और यह भी कहा कि युद्ध अपराधों के दोषियों की भी जांच होगी। सीरिया सरकार जेनेवा में प्रस्तावित दूसरे शांति सम्मेलन में हिस्सा लेने के लिए रजामंद हैं। यह सम्मेलन सन्‌ २०१२ में जेनेवा समझौते की अगली कड़ी है, जिसमें प्रमुख शक्तियों ने सीरिया में सभी पक्षों को साथ लेकर अंतरिम सरकार बनाने की पेशकश की थी। सीरिया संकट के व्यापक राजनीतिक हल के लिए इसे संयुक्त राष्ट्र की अहम पहल के तौर पर देखा जा रहा है। अतुल तिवारी आकाशवाणी समाचार दुबई।

इस बीच, सीरिया ने कहा है कि वह रासायनिक हथियारों को नष्ट करने के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र निरीक्षकों के साथ पूरा सहयोग करेगा। सीरिया के प्रधानमंत्री वाएल अल हालकी ने लेबनॉन के एक टी.वी. चैनल को बताया कि  सरकार निरीक्षकों के काम में सहयोग देगी। उनका यह बयान संयुक्त राष्ट्र के प्रस्ताव के बाद आया है जिसमें कहा  गया है कि सीरिया के लगभग एक हजार टन रासायनिक हथियारों के जखीरे को २०१४ के मध्य तक नष्ट किया जायेगा।

उत्तर प्रदेश में मेरठ जिले में सरधना के खेड़ा गांव में प्रतिबंधों का उल्लंघन कर हजारों लोगों के सर्वदलीय महापंचायत में शामिल होने की खबर हैं। सरधना के विधायक संगीत सिंह सोम की गिरफ्‌तारी के विरोध में महापंचायत का आह्‌वान किया गया था। 
     
इस बीच, खेड़ा गांव में स्थिति तनावपूर्ण होने की खबर है, हालांकि प्रशासन और महापंचायत के आयोजको ने इस बारे में अलग-अलग दावे किए है। सभास्थल के आसपास बड़ी संख्या में सुरक्षा बल तैनात हैं। कई प्रमुख स्थानीय नेताओं को नजरबंद कर दिया गया हैं। खबरों में कहा गया है कि पुलिस की अपील के बावजूद लोगों के डटे रहने को देखते हुए पुलिस ने लोगों को तितर-बितर करने के लिए लाठियां चलाइर्ं और आंसू गैस छोड़े। खबर है कि उपद्रवियों ने कई सरकारी वाहनों को नुकसान पहुंचाया है। 
     
इस बीच, राहत शिविरों से लगभग दस हजार लोग मुजफ्‌फरनगर में अपने घरों को लौट गए हैं।

महाराष्ट्र में निजी कंपनी का एक हेलीकॉप्टर आज सवेरे मुम्बई से लगे ठाणे जिले में दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया। पुलिस से मिली आरंभिक खबरों के अनुसार इस दुर्घटना में हेलीकॉप्टर में सवार पांच लोगों के मारे जाने की आशंका है। यह हेलीकॉप्टर मुंबई के जुहू हवाई अड्डे से औरंगाबाद जा रहा था। दुर्घटना स्थल के निकट की पहाड़ियों में हेलीकॉप्टर की तलाश की जा रही है।

मुम्बई में डॉकयार्ड इलाके में इमारत ढहने के बाद राहत और बचाव कार्य आज सुबह पूरा कर लिया गया। बृहन मुंबई नगर निगम की इस बहुमंजिला इमारत के ढहने से ६१ लोगों की मौत हो गई और ३२ लोग घायल हैं।

महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री पृथ्वीराज चव्हाण ने भरोसा दिलाया है कि इस घटना के जिम्मेदार लोगों के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई की जायेगी। नगर निगम ने दो जांच समितियों का गठन किया है और इस तरह के अन्य भवनों की जांच के आदेश दिए है।

उत्तर प्रदेश में दिमागी बुखार से मरने वालों की संख्या तीन सौ १९ तक पहुंच गई है। गोरखपुर और बस्ती मंडलों में पिछले दो दिन में इस बीमारी से दस लोगों की मौत हुई। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि विभिन्न सरकारी अस्पतालों में एक सौ ७० से अधिक लोगों का इलाज चल रहा है। इस बीच, राज्य में इस मॉनसून के दौरान डेंगू के छह सौ ४७ मरीजों की पहचान हुई है। 
 
इंसेफेलाइटिस और डेंगू दोनों ही मच्छरों की विभिन्न प्रजातियों के काटने से होता है। इधर पूर्वी क्षेत्र के हिमालय की तराई वाले इलाकों में मच्छरों का धनत्व काफी बढ़ जाने से बीमारी की तीव्रता में भी वृद्धि हो गयी है। डेंगू और इंसेफेलाइटिस के औसतन १५ से २० मरीज प्रतिदिन सरकारी अस्पतालों में आ रहे हैं। गोरखपुर का बीआरडी मेडिकल कॉलेज अस्पताल ही इंसेफेलाइटिस के मरीजों के इलाज का मुख्य केन्द्र है। गोरखपुर के गोरक्षनाथ ट्रस्ट हॉस्पिटल में भी डेंगू के ५० मरीज भर्ती हैं। सलमान हैदर आकाशवाणी समाचार  गोरखपुर।
